Hope this is the correct forum...

Any one using Polks for serious mixing either at work or in a home studio? Older monitor series or what??

Thanks

Do you mean for studio monitor or live sound reinforcement? I think they would do well as studio monitors. I don't think they would hold up too well for sound reinforcement.

Yes, studio only. Mixing and/or mastering.

    Thanks

I have always used the "industry standard" near-fields. Either NS10's or 4412's. I find Polk speakers, though a pleasure to listen to, are too colored for any real monitoring work.

At our church we us a pair of powered Tannoys that work well. I believe they are the Reveal 6D Active.

Tannoy and Genelec are my favorites. But they were out of reach for my little demo studio way back when. If I were to buy a set of monitors today, they would probably be Genelec.

I agree, Polks' are a pleasure to listen to but they add to much to use as studio monitors. Tannoy, very nice-neutral. Genelec, very nice-warm. Consider KRK, nice-neutral. Very susceptible to ones' opinion, and what the purpose is. If you can make it sound good on NS10s' then it will sound good on anything!

Exactly. I still own a pair. Wouldn't want to listen to them, but I can't seem to part with them.

I currently have the KRK Rokit G2 6" near-fields. My mixes translate ok, but I need more bottom end when I mix. Otherwise I take out and listen to it on my 5's and Polk 10s to check it out. Sure would be nice to just mix on a set of speakers and be done...
