Monitor 10 refurb help/info

Greetings to all,
I have two sets of Monitor 10s' that need some luv'n. I hope that I can get some questions answered.
What is up with the magnets coming lose from the basket? I have a pair of 5A's that needed a driver replaced due to the magnet not staying attached to the basket, and now I have 3 out of 8 drivers in the 10s' that have the same problem. Ok, Ok If I may pose the questions.
6" drivers #1
Are there re-cone kits available for these (6500/6502/6503)? Once the magnet has fallen off, you will never be able to re-attach it successfully. To save the speaker, you have to remove the cone, re-install the magnet (with a correct spacing tube) and then re-cone the speaker. It is a complete shame to toss this into the ground! For the cost of a re-cone kit and some super duper glue, these are good to go!
6" drivers #2
The 10s' have MW 6503s' in them, are these available? Is anything available?
6" drivers #3
What is compatible with the 6503s'? I understand the the 6502 is a replacement for the 6500, I have been looking for drivers on many auctions sites. I have ran across a set of MW6600Xs' (will these work). These all "appear" to be the same driver. What is the real deal? Are the differences great enough that one has to have the same model drivers in both speakers, one can or can not mix and match?
Tweeter #1
The 10's have in them what appear to be SL2000s'. Can you confirm? There is a picture below.
Tweeter #2
Are these available, or what is compatible?
Tweeter #3
Is there an reference material to what the crossover should be (component values, wiring diagrams) with what tweeter is being used?
Crossover #1
I have seen guys referencing crossover updates on Club Polk. Is this mainly new components to replace the old ones with the same values, or is the actually improving on what is there? If this is an improvement it must be related to what speakers/tweeters are in the box, correct?
Where does one find any of this information? Do these guys actually measure the updated circuits and speakers, or just listen and determine that "this is now better"
Grill Frame #1
What is the best material to make a Grill frame from? Gotta make 2.
Grill Frame #2
Where does one get the plastic nubs that seat into the speaker and hold the grills on?
I am trying to bring back some Monitor 10s', and make them all they can be with the best components, and upgrade the crossover if at all possible. I hope that I have not rambled on to much, but these questions keep popping up and I am just trying to get the "correct" answers and be pointed the the right direction.
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!
Thank you for your time.

Check out the attachment in this post for parts. Note there different versions of the 10's.
I'll see if I can find the link to the schematics for the 10's
Polk is still making replacement drivers for some of the models. You best bet is to call them and ask. Same for the Grill nubs.
The original grill frames are particle board, so a replacement can be made from the same or even MDF.
Upgrading the crossover components will yield improvements. Typically the upgrade or mod involves replacing with like values but better components (usu. resistors and caps, esp using Foil Caps vs. Electrolytic). There are also ways to improve some models by changing a tweeter (which may require a crossover mod as well) or by removing some fuses, etc, but that is highly dependent on the model.
I wouldn't suggest just changing any component values---most (if not all) of the changes in any values have pretty much all been vetted via Polk Engineering or are tried and true.
Just do some serious searching on the site and I'm sure you'll find all the mod info you need.

Here's the link to the thread that has links to tons of schematics. The M10's are in the first post.

The RD0194 is a direct replacement for the SL2000
The RD0198 is a direct replacement for the SL2500
No recone kits avail. Frozen drivers suck!! However you can use a glue like JBWeld or something similiar to prevent magnet slippage on any other vintage drivers (especially prior to trasnporting them). It's becoming more and more common these days on the vintage drivers as the glue is getting brittle and failing.
I'll see if I can find a link to a thread on that repair process.
Another tip to finding replacement drivers is to find other models that have the same driver (from the link in my first post or eevn from an SDA model) and keep an eye out for local CL or ebay finds. Sometimes you can score a decent price on a poor cabinet condition set but with decent drivers for less than replacement parts.____________________

Please figure up an amount that you'd want, to send all of the broken MW6.5" drivers to Zip 21771. If you order new parts from polkaudio, telling them that you are a CP member will get you a nice discount on your purchase.;)

Good luck with your project, I just picked up a set of Monito 10A's with the Peerless tweets a few weeks ago and I love the way they sound. Great speakers, and def. woth the time and effort in fixing them up.

Are you asking me what I would sell the broken drivers for and ship them to your zip code? What are they worth? I have 2 that the magnets have come away from the basket, 1 that is seized that I suspect the magnet has shifted, and 1 that the voice coil is rubbing which again I suspect the magnet shifting.
