Hey guys! I haven't posted in a WHILE, so it's good to be back:) I thought I would share my accidental "score" today. I was hungry on the way home so, I stopped at the BK. While there, I realized there was a Goodwill store in the shopping center, so I figured what the hell...Anyway, I went straight to the electronics section and found some speakers hiding behind some various walmart electronics. I dug them out, and to my surprise it was a pair of RT35I! I removed the grills, and they looked perfect other than a little dusty. I walked out of there with them on my shoulder for $15! So did I do good or what? Also, how would you compare the sound of these to my other favorite Polks(m11T,w/xover/RDO). I know it will be a different sound, but I was thinking they would work great in the bedroom. I've just never had the pleasure of listening to any of the RT line. Thoughts and input would be appreciated:D

If they work I say they were definitely a score. Not sure of the sound since I have not heard this line either. Congrats and enjoy.

IMO that was a hell of a score, one of polks very underated speakers.

Great Find, you could flip them for a $100 easy.

Thanks for the input guys. Maybe, I will be able to hook them up this weekend, and I'll give you guys my amateur input:o I've had a lot going on as of late, so I haven't been on the boards in a couple months or so. I'm glad I stumbled across these to get me back in, haha! I remember hearing good things about the trilaminate tweeters, but I don't recall what the general impression of the RT sound was. On that note, would a crossover upgrade be in order? I know it made a HUGE difference when combined with the RDOs in my 11Ts, I don't know about the RTs?

Thanks guys:) Technically, I never left, but I just haven't had to time to keep up with the boards and whats going on etc. It will be that way for a while longer to, but I will try and get back in here as often as I can. Like I said, hopefully, I can post in a day or three when I get these hooked up. I'm very curious to hear what their "sound" is. The only thing close to these I ever had was some infinity reference 2000.4 bookshelves. I can tell you one thing though, these are far heavier built than the infinitys. I was kinda wanting to do the xovers on these, just because it's fun and rewarding if the result is good, but if you guys say it isn't worth it, I guess I won't:D I still can't believe I got these for $15, LOL! It makes me want to go on a goodwill scavenger hunt to all the goodwill stores within 20 miles, which would be A LOT:D

The RT35i is a very nice small bookshelf speaker. Do you feel bad for stealing them @ $15? :D

skynut...haven't seen him around in awhile...brought a pair over here along with 55is for a little GTG we had. I was more impressed with the 35is than the 55is...and more impressed with the RTxxi line than the RTi line. Nice score.

Noah, you have to go often as things come and go through the store very quickly. When I was on the hunt, I would go to the two GW stores here twice a week.

Ok guys, here's some pics of the RT35Is I scored. The drivers are absolutely flawless, and the cabinets only have a few minor scuffs on them. Otherwise, they are in amazingly good shape considering I found them taped together with shipping tape under a pile of throw away surround speakers:eek: I haven't had the chance to put them through the paces with different music. I did give them a quick listen with a couple of CDs. My initial impressions are: Very detailed highs with crispy midrange, but not too bright. The bass guitar sounded quite nice as well. I was a little surprised at the amount of bass these things were able to put out. Does that sound about right? All in all, I think they will be keepers for sure:D This was definitely $15 dollars well spent! I will give a better description after I've had the chance to properly test them out.

LOL! That's what I'm talking about! That was the price(actually $14.91) they had on it and had them taped together with shipping tape, so most people probably walked right past them:D I didn't realize what good condition they were in until I got them home. I figured for $15, it was still a deal if they needed a little work, but they are functionally PERFECT. I still haven't had a chance to put them through their paces, but they sound very nice from what little I've listened so far. Maybe a little bright, but I'm not sure yet...I swear I will do a proper "review" when I get the time:)

They should sound a bit 'bright' on some equipment because of their tweeter. But that can be dealt with by tweaking.

    14.91.....unbelievable! The LOOK absolutely MINT!

    Enjoy!
