Getting started - advice on AVR

I highly doubt... actually i know for a fact his pioneer elite is not 500 watts a channel. Pioneer Elite has never had anything that powerful.
Maybe 100w a channel, or 120.
Saying he has a receiver of this type, but not knowing which model and saying it can do xxxx watts is like me saying "my friends dad's uncle knew a guy who could bend things with his mind".Main Surround -
Epson 8350 Projector/ Elite Screens 120" / Pioneer Elite SC-35 / Sunfire Signature / Focal Chorus 716s / Focal Chorus CC / Polk MC80 / Polk PSW150 sub
Bedroom - Sharp Aquos 70" 650 / Pioneer SC-1222k / Polk RT-55 / Polk CS-250
Den - Rotel RSP-1068 / Threshold CAS-2 / Boston VR-M60 / BDP-05FD -
Funny you should mention that ng, I too can bend things with my mind, lol. In all seriousness though, I can't think of any AVR that will put out 500W per channel. I am no expert, but that would be something to see.

It's not that I'm insensitive, I just don't care.. -
I got my Pioneer Elite VSX23 this past weekend, along with some speaker wire and banana plugs from monoprice (thanks for the suggestion!). I saw the sub deal on Newegg but I just don't have room for it in my studio right now. I'm thinking about picking up a pair of bookshelfs (monitor 40s) just to test the receiver, and then pick up the fronts/center/sub when I move in a few months. Thank you everybody for your input, I'm sure I'll have more burning questions when I set everything up for good.

The Pioneer Elite 23 is one of the best AVRs in that price range. Lots of features, great DACs and processing....good power and sound and the all important Pre-outs for future upgrades and 4 ohm speakers (the Future).
You'll like that. Good idea about the M-40s...a good cheap way to get started and good surrounds, later.
