What would the cop do about that? I mean, you could hear him revving the bike out, but you didn't really get visual evidence he was going fast from the cop's perspective.

It's curious that he lowsided though. The instinct when you see a cop is to hit the brakes or slow down, which in most cases causes the bike to lean "up", not down.

The bike did lean up right before he went down. Watch closely. If I had to guess, he locked up the rear.

He should have leaned in his corner more and looked through his turn. A tad more acceleration in the turn and he would have been fine. Come on man, I been to Keith Code's classes and passed.

    Yeah what's up with that?

Also what was the cop doing by driving 20' to where the bike was laying as if he was cutting off an escape route or something? He couldn't just get out of the car where he was parked?

I don't buy that. The cruiser didn't pull out enough to fully block the motorcycle so it still could have been clipped-Here barely pulled off the shoulder. And he certainly wasn't trying to protect the rider as the rider was still out in the middle of the street. I would imagine if that was what he was trying to do he would have blocked at least the whole right lane.

Of course maybe the officer thought twice about blockng the lane as possibly causing a more dangerous situation with such a blind curve there and just stayed off the side once he saw the rider was ambulatory.

There is still something odd about the whole shot though--Why was somebody filming it? It seemed that the camera man knew the cycle was coming. Of course from their vantage they also would have known the cruiser was there. Perhaps its a hot spot for accidents or hotrodders or something. Who knows.

Or maybe its some kind of Highway Patrol training video or something.

You dont have to buy it, its standard procedure. Why would he block an entire lane around next to a blind corner?

Thats an EXTREMELY popular stretch of road in CA. Theres videos on it all the time.

It could have also been a couple guys out to make some cool videos of them riding. One takes up station at an overlook with the camera, the other rides off to get lined up for the shot. In the meantime, the cop pulls up and parks, but there's nothing the cameraman can do to warn the other guy, so he just keeps rolling film as planned.

Lots of possibilities as to why it happened the way it did, but the nature of the internet is to scream "FAKE!!" at any seeming "too good to be true" shot.

I still don't see how moving the cruiser forward 10-20' on the side of the road was intended to protect the rider who was in the middle of the road. What part of that is standard procedure?

I still don't see how the rider is in "the middle of the road" at the end of that video. The officer got his cruiser as close as possible while still being in a safe position and then turned on his flashers and got out to help. It's not goddamn rocket science.
