Since you didn't mention sound quality and bass is what you're concerned about then I'd recommend some concert speakers or something with big woofers. 7" woofers can only move so much air.

A subwoofer comes to mind.

would a sub be able to deliver big full room filling bass ? -
depending on which one you get, they can rattle fillings out of your teeth.
here this will do the trick

yeah there is another 1,700 dollar chance.well there may be a mint pair of cherry rtia9's for sale. -
It can also be your rooms acoustics robbing bass response. this is a great sub for the money if they will ever get them in stock that is.

Depends on the sub and the room, but generally yes. As mentioned above, SVS is good for "big room filling" bass. My PC-Ultra shakes a 20 x 30 room. Of course, unless you are listening to rap/R&B, most music is not meant to have huge bass. -

Have you tried inching your speakers closer to the wall? I had my 1.2TLs about 12" from the back wall and was very disappointed in the bass. I kept inching them back towards the wall and when I hit 8" BAM big, tight, growling bass. Could be your speaker cables or ICs too.

If you want disco bass in your room it will cost.
Your A9s with a nice sub will give you very nice bass.
Gadabout has some RTi10s and a Polk sub (forget which one) that sound beautilful.
His room is well appointed and works well.
If you have a big open room that is sparse then you have some work to do.
Have you properly setup your sub (see H9s question on sub placement above)?
Taken any in room measurements ?
If you have a crappy room (acoustically) then you will need 4 subs when 1 could do the trick if set up correctly.

Even when I was using my RTiA7's for two channel, with the Carver pre and amp I got very pleasing hard hitting bass. Was it disco slamming bass? No. Was it reasonably controlled and very articulate bass? Yes. Was it anything like my two 12" type R's in the IROC-Z? No. But SQ is way way better. You may simply be asking too much from those A9's. They are excellent speakers for music and HT but if room shaking brain rattling bass is what you are after then the above suggestions apply. Good luck and I hope you find that which you seek.SDA-1C (full mods)

Now *that* would be awesome. Maybe something like the giant speaker in "Back to the Future," except one that doesn't explode upon usage. -
Dude, get an SVS sub or maybe an HSU. If you like bass that can rattle your teeth then that is going to cost you. Don't skimp on the subwoofer...seriously. Home theater bass is not like car bass, they are completely different. SVS is a very respectable company and they have AMAZING costumer support. Polk does as well but SVS is in a league of their own when it comes to subwoofers.Samsung LN52A650 : PS3 : RTi A7s : CSi5 : SVS PC12-NSD : Pioneer VSX-9040THX : Emotiva XPA-3 =

If you want that "Club" sound, fill a large room with just loud music (quantity over quality) then these are what you're looking for. I had a pair of Cerwin Vegas we used in a studio, and without a doubt they will give you that sledgehammer in your chest feel.

You'll have no problems selling your A9's

B and C. Honestly if your not really caring about the detail and quaility of the sound get some CV's and a sub and go to town. You could even get some DJ speakers with some 18" woofers and use them too. Peavey, Mackies ect. Those will nicely give you "room filling bass" and probably get you arrested but you know its all good.
and for a sub you could do what some of my friends did. Take car subs 12's and 15's make your own sub out of them. about 4 12's and 2 15's in a 1000 sq ft apartment will give you nice loud room shaking bass, as well as have the cops come.
and the Peavey's you can get dual 15's in a cab for around 300-400 bucks a pop and the subs around 600 a piece. then look at getting a crown amp for the powering. This is what my friend had and he's big into DJ'ing and used this rig for serval gigs and never exhausted anything. Granted the horns and the sub would make you deaf in about 5 seconds, but trust me, you felt the bass in your chest. -
FYI .I dont listen to rap.I listen to rock , punk rock.Social Distortion, etc. I just like to feel that kick drum and bass guitar just as if I was at the show.

Do the cheap thing first. If your pre amp has tone controls turn up the bass all the way and have a blast.

Ok keep the RTIa9's and get a SVS sub . But i can only spend like 1,000.00 dollars or less. Or get a pair of big Cerwin Vegas and switch btwn the 2 differnt speaker brandspeakers for differnt listening ?
