Looking for something along the lines of the Polk Micropro 1000/2000. They are just a bit outside my price range, even on Polkdirect. Must have speaker-level inputs and be relatively small, i.e. not much more than a cubic foot. Anybody else using something like this that they particularly like?

If this is a musical Install then I suggest looking into the Martin Logan Grotto.

I'd definitely recommend the micropro subs for music. Be patient and you'll find one in your price range.

    Another vote for the MicroPro.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Have you listened to DefTech's Supercube3? You should also check out the Martin Logan Grotto or even the Velo's.

Great ideas all. I think I'll keep holding out for that micropro. The 505 just doesn't do it for me and at this point, I think it might be nice to keep it in the family.

You know...if you can't get the Micropro at a low enough price....you might want to think about the DSWpro 400.....it also has an 8" driver and decent specs (not as powerful wattage wise) but it might work for your purposes....it's probably 'fast' enough for music and, according to Polk it can get down to 30hz+/-3db..

Give it a listen and see what you think?

If you are willing to go used you might look at this older mirage bipolar sub:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200451371681&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I have had one for about six months and it is very tight and articulate for music. Dual 8in woofers is separate sealed compartments. Extension down into the mid 20s. I was listening to the Greyboy Allstars the other day, a track where the bass player's five string is detuned to a low A and he walks down to it a half step a a time and the bps-150i never wavered, hit every note. Its a little bigger than you want, but its close and looks good with the shiny black top. Bet that guy would take 250, he just lowered his BIN (no affiliation). Anyway, just a suggestion.
Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es
    Game Room 5.1.4:
Denon AVR-X4200w; Sony UBP-x700; Definitive Technology Power Monitor 900 mains, CLR-3000 center, StudioMonitor 350 surrounds, ProMonitor 800 atmos x4; Sub - Monoprice Monolith 15in THX Ultra

    Bedroom 2.1
Harmon Kardon HK3490; Bluesounds Node N130; Polk RT25i; ACI Titan Subwoofer

I thought about that, but have decided that Polk's best speaker line should be paired with their best sub line... warped, I know.:p So, I'm gonna wait for a deal on a Micropro...

Somebody please make sure I don't buy one of these: http://emotiva.com/ultra_subs.shtm - not that I know ANYTHING about them... I'm just sayin'. :) I'd probably just end up selling it in a year...

P.S. No speaker-level inputs. That does it for me. Moving on...

MicroPro 1000's were available for $350 earlier. I would be surprized if they didn't return to that price in the next while. There is always the PSW505 which is inexpensive and works well for music.

Well, I've been watching and bidding patiently on polkdirect. They've been rolling out a few microPRO 2000's a week. The last several went for 360 to 380, with one as low as 336... I was determined to pay no more than 325 plus 25 shipping. Somehow today, I was able to get one for 300! I'm psyched! The specs on these little things are amazing. I cant wait to pair them with the LSi7s. The only downer was that I had to pay freakin' sales tax... Darn that Polk HQ in Maryland!!

Nice sub, I'm sure, but well outside my price range and much larger than a cubic foot.

P.S. Put your equipment list in your sig!!!

mdaudioguy....now that you've had the micropro sub for a while... what are your impressions? Do you like it paired with the LSi7. I am considering the same set-up for music. I currently have the PSW 505 and would switch to mp2000 for music
    Main Rig:
    Antipodes DX > Roon > PS Audio Directstream Jr.>deHavilland Ultraverve 3 >Belles Reference 150a >Harbeth C7 ES3

    Second Rig:
Roon> PS Audio Directstream Jr Bridge II > EE Minimax pre (Tutay mods) >Belles 150A Ref >Monitor 5 (Westmassguy-modded)

I ended up adding a second one for 2.2 channel. Ok, they're not really separate channels, as the .2 designation implies. Each one simply adds low end to each LSi7 channel. The performance of these subs is nothing less than stunning, when one considers their diminutive stature. They take up such little space, but have the ability to really let you know they're there. I have not heard a PSW505, but I am experienced with similar subs - you would not be disappointed, IMHO.

Yes, you did have to go and plant that seed... And then when the opportunity presented itself, I was powerless to resist! ;):D The problem is, it's getting crowded in my HT room. I need to separate this rig from my HT and get it set up right. It sure does sound good as is, and I'm positive that it's far less than optimal... Things can only get better. :)
