Please, please, be calm. I am here. I am here for you.

Yep, I have been slackin in my forum responsibilities lately. I've allowed you nut cases to run wild, to take every advantage of the forum.

Fact is, I been busy. Seriously. Stuff I been doing:
1. New manuals -- We have several new lines coming out, from a stereo in-ceiling speaker (RC6s) to high end in-walls (LCi Series) to the new line of 2003 RTi's. Plus, car stuff! New Polk/MOMO loudspeakers, and amazing new Polk/MOMO Amplifiers. Very complex stuff. And between the complexity of the manuals, and the lack of communication between marketing and engineering, it's a truly tedious and troublesome project, making manuals. But look at all these new Polk products for you!
2. Collateral materials -- Brochures, Power Point Presentations, Circuit City collateral, Sales & Marketing Guides for the sales guys, even newspaper stuff (for a newspaper that keeps being put off for all the other priorities)... This stuff is keeping me busy busy busy! Sounds great, huh? Hard at work being creative and writing! Yeah. Keep that image in mind. I will allow you to labor under that illusion. But look at all this great branding material promoting Polk Audio for you!
3. Meetings! What would corporate life be without em? And let me be not-the-first to tell you, nothing -- NOTHING -- saps your energy, ruins a good day, puts the kibosh on any creativity you may have like a good, long, serious meeting. Especially when you're me, cause I'm the notetaker! [Grumble grumble...]
4. See the clock? It says "five pee-em." That means, get out of the office and go do other stuff before you mow down your co-workers with a semi-automatic. "It sounds like some dangerous psychotic killer wrote this. And this buttoned-down schizo could probably snap at any moment and stalk from office to office with an Armalite AR-180 carbine gas-operated semi-automatic..." (That's from FIGHT CLUB.) So in order to keep what's left of my sanity, I leave and do other stuff. I renovate houses. I watch movies. I even instituted a local bi-monthly happy hour for myself and a small group of other humans, just to get myself out of the house and possibly meet some new meat. (Lookitme! Gettin out of the house!)

When I'm not painting the town black, I'm watching movies. It's what you do when you have a Polk Audio home theater system, am I wrong?

Short list of some recently watched stuff:

THE BOURNE IDENTITY -- Check the year: 1988. This was a great DVD, widescreen, of the 1988 TV movie of Ludlum's "Bourne Identity," starring Richard Chamberlain and Jaclyn Smith. It held my interest for 3 hours, and was hellaviolent and much more interesting than the cheeseball recent big screen remake. And Jaclyn Smith gets raped and beaten. Ok!
CATCH 22 -- Utterly unwatchable. Skip it.
GRAND ILLUSION -- One of the world's great films, and a great if muddled escape thriller a la STALAG 17 and THE GREAT ESCAPE (both of which came much later of course). A nice new restoration by Criterion DVD.
3:10 TO YUMA -- In which Glenn Ford plays one of the most evilest cowboy bad guys ever! GREAT!
ONE HOUR PHOTO -- In which Robin Williams (and the great bassy soundtrack) really surprises as a psycho working at your local WalMart. A great DVD and very effective film!
LAST TANGO IN PARIS -- Supposed to be great (and filled with ****). It's neither. Skip it.
3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR -- Pretty Robert Redford, yet to become a great actor, plays a spy let loose by the organization in this tense but ultimately empty thriller.
CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON -- An amazing Universal Monster Movie DVD, restored beautifully and filled with extras! And the creature, it's still damn scary, just like when I was 10! How the heck did that guy stay underwater like that?! It MUST be real! Echoes of this film come all the way down to JAWS, and that's why JAWS is so effective!
WITNESS -- Good to see again in widescreen DVD.
A SHOT IN THE DARK -- Supposed to be the "lost, funniest" "Pink Panther" film. But it's not funny at all, and should stay lost.
THE HUNTER -- Steve McQueen's last film, and while it's sort of soft around the edges it still packs the McQueen wallop when it needs to. Funniest thing is watching McQueen, an Indy-level race car driver, play a guy who can't even parallel park.

I recommend NETFLIX (http://www.netflix.com/) to anyone who likes to watch movies on DVD. Netflix keeps em coming fast and one-after-another!

So you see, I have been busy. Polk Audio is keeping me busy. I'm doing stuff. I'm not ignoring you, I just can't hear you.

(Caption: Micah hard at work in his office, tending the fires of the Polk Audio marketing machine.)

And I feel sorta bad about it. I have had this little post-it note stuck to my telephone for the last MONTH to call Bruce back and chat about classical music and stuff, and I have yet to call him and he probably hates me now. Don't hate me, Bruce. You know I'm here for you.

I'm here for ALL of you, my children! "I absolve you!"

Micah!

    Hey Micah...

Check out Wango's Carver Amp thread in the Flea Market.
Your "play-nice" e-mail isn't being followed by Mr. Wango.
Are you gonna ban him? Curious.

PS George and I have no issue with each other. But, I agree with you and I don't want to see anyone ripped off via the Polk Flea Market. Thanks.

I am especially interested in the changes to the RTi lineup.

Give us some more bones please ;)
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Yes, I'll be dreaming of the new RTI lineup..and it better be nothing like the 150. Which I heard from CC that it's being disco'd.

You no like the RTi150? Man, I like that speaker. Big. Bold. Anyway...

New RTi... You know what I like? I like the fact that maybe I shouldn't said anything about it yet. But you know what? I believe in lighting the fire of desire, even in a small grassroots kind of way.

No pics yet. (Pics are being taken as I write this, actually.) New, improved Power Port technology that will make them sound great, and a cool, updated look that gooses Polk Audio speaker design into the modern world, I think. When you see them, you will be impressed. When you hear them, you will be impressed. You will also prolly want to keep an eye on current line RTi at your authorized dealers, for good deals on the existing line (which is nothing to sneeze at, of course)!

New high end in-walls... Yep. Imagine in-wall/in-ceiling speakers that have the kind of performance you'd expect from LSi-level speakers! That's what the LCi Series will be -- in-walls using LSi-level components (including a swivel Ring Radiator tweeter!). Designs and specs are being finalized right now. If you're about to begin construction on your new house, you'll want to hold off a couple months and plan for a "stealth" home theater using these bad boys!

All this stuff you will like much. You could start bugging your local authorized dealer to start bugging us with demand to get it done and send it out to them!

See? I'm back with good news and proof that I love each and every one of you. I am watching over you, my children.

    Micah!

I only got a small demo of the 150's due to time constraints. They look incredible no doubt..but what I heard sounded way too bass heavy. Perhaps it the reciever was setup wrong. The guy who helped me was rather clueless about life in general and I believe he had set them up. I'll go back and give them a second shot.

Are they going to release a whole new RTI setup at once..(center tower, bookshelf, surround)..or one piece at a time? I'm not too keen on the Polk speaker release type thing.

Whaddya mean? CC is king demo of Polk island! heh.. You can get a semi-halfway-halfass demo @ CC..but you can tell somewhat how good a speak is going to be. Next time I'll see if I can toggle with the setup before doing a demo to give the 150's a proper chance.
The CC over here chose Polk to put in their mock living room setup. It consisted of Csi40, Rti70, Rti28, Psw303 and an Onkyo reciever. *can't remember the model* I purposefully showed my girl the bose setup first and got a good wow out of her..THEN I showed her the Polk setup. She was truly amazed. She could easily tell a big difference in sound quality between the two.

The LCi in-ceiling (round) speaker is pretty impressive. The combo of aimed drive unit, swivel Ring Radiator Tweeter, and three -- count em, three -- button toggle Xover user-controls, will make it a prime speaker for both rear surround HT use and even direct music use!

Don't you love how I just dribble out these little tiny tidbits? I'M DRIBBLING.

Thanks for the warm fuzzies, you know I love you too mon (EXTREMELY comfortable with my sexuality here, let the "kids" have fun with my statement).

I appreciate the "breathing room" extended to myself and Ron Skarvan, and I think he does too.

    I'm looking at a 1 July-ish return......just a tad shy of six months....

For the big news....Polk Audio will be rocking Bagdhad very shortly.....As we start to wind down here, I will be delivering some gear to my counterparts uprange. I don't know if I will be able to get pictures but it's cool all the same. Thanks to the folks who donated the gear to me and I can't think of a better use than to keep the Polk flag flying in the desert.
