I get bouts of that from time to time; I hate it. Is yours constant?

Yeah, mine is constant 24/7. It has been that way since 2002. The left side is worse than the right. The left side never changes tone. The right side though does change on occasion. It will drop to a lower tone for maybe 3 or 4 minutes and then it returns to its usual state.

I've been reading about Tinnitus cures other than medication. Here is one that may interest you.

    http://www.diminishtinnitus.com/

The Mayo Clinic offers advice on diminishing or remedying the problem.

From what I've been told about my intermittent bouts of Tinnitus it is caused by ear wax build up and stress. My ears are more prone to ear wax build up due to the nature of the problems I've had with my ears since birth. Keeping my ears clean and taking stress relieving meds has caused it to be pretty much cured.

Yours apparently has been caused by loud noise which may have damaged the bones or the tiny hairs inside your ear canal. From what I've read there are medication treatments for this but until the cause is defined the treatments are useless in full recovery.

I wish you luck as I know it's hard to live with.

Thanks for the link Hearingimpared! I am pretty confident that I know what caused it, and yes, it was loud noise. Not just one, but multiple and all in the same day. It doesn't keep me from sleeping or anything, it just gets a little frustrating at times. I always have a radio on in the bedroom to kind of help drown it out.

I have never seen a doctor about it though. I hadn't told anyone about it until a couple months ago when I failed my OSHA mandated hearing test. I passed it a few days later after a retest, but I wore earplugs constantly (even in bed) for 2 days beforehand.

That's what I said until I saw the results TNRabbit. I wasn't sure why they even bothered to clean my ears until I saw the results in the drain pan. My first response to the nurse was "I swear to God I shower everyday!!" She laughed and said that's a normal first time reaction. Holy crap at all the nastiness that came out of my ears....

I keep my ears pretty clean, but after all these years in a manufacturing enviroment, the damage is already done. I wear ear plugs now for certain things, but with the Tinnitus, I will never have the "Golden" ear.

glad I'm not alone, had tinnitus for 2 years now, when I first realized I had it I freaked out ( thought, what the hell is that ringing ) but now I'm used to it, and now I wear earplugs 9 hrs a day at work

Yeah Sand, it sucks, but I have learned to deal with it as well. Although, if it just appeared out of nowhere you might want to have it checked out. Could be due to something fixable. Mine...I remember the day it happened. After that day, they rang like crazy for a good 5 or 6 days. It slowly subsided a little but never totally went away.

It is like that ringing in your ears after good seats at a rock concert....but never goes away.

I had my ears cleaned for the first time in 20 years last year. They pulled a piece of wax out of the left that was several inches long, she could hardly pull it through. It was like I got my hearing back, wow. So true, get it done.

    CLEANING OUT YOUR EARS!!! :D

Not even joking. If you've never experienced the overwhelming sensation of having your ears cleaned out really well, you owe it to yourself. I have a friend who almost passed out after having his ears cleaned out; he said he could not believe the difference it made in his hearing and he almost hit the ground. It wasn't that dramatic for me, but it made a huge difference in my hearing, especially for my perception of higher frequencies. Get ready to get sick of those sl2000's if you like'em now!!! :)

I did mine be soaking Murina (hydrogen peroxide solution) in my ear for several minutes with my head cocked sideways to keep it in, and then blasting out the wax with a syringe-looking water-shooter; you could use one of those blue rubber ball things too. The results in the sink spoke for themselves

Seriously though, give it a whirl; it may just blow your mind!!!

There's nothing wrong with my sl2000,I still love em,but I do have the replacement, though.
