Muscle Car: Pick 1 of 3 (corrected)

I prefer real muscle cars.
'69 Camaro SS, 70 Chevelle SS, etc. They stopped making muscle cars in the 70's.
If I were going to drop $30k on a "muscle car" - this would be it:
-
my vote for the Chevrolet Camaro (circa 1969)....
-
they did not stop making muscle cars in the 70's, they stopped making the cars you like in the 70's
I respect the muscle cars of old, I really do. but those cars were NOT running in the 13's stock, even the huge horsepower ones. they werent. Polyglass tires alone for the fail!!!
if resale and investment factors were not counted, I would take a new camaro over the old one any day, same for the Mustang. Thats not to say I might not own one, I;m just saying car for car to have pure fun in.
lets compare a 70's mustang and mine, and lets say you were barelling toward a turn on a road circuit, or even a mountain road faster than you should be........you want to old car's brakes and tires or mine..........you know the answerLiving Room 2 Channel -

I feel a bit like a jerk for this thread. It's fun but there are folks out there suffering in this economy and here I am looking at $30+ k cars.
I dont understand why theyre comparing a $50k + mustang to a $36k camaro. You can get a corvette for that price...then compare.

the mustang and camaro were rivals both coming out in the early to mid sixties...(64 and a half for the mustang and 66 and a half for the camaro) the vette was in a class of its own. -
Brakes and tires does not a Muscle Car make.
The term is mostly and should be reserved for pre 1975 cars made during a period of cheap gas and excess. Raw HP and torque were the focus of performance gains.
The cars discussed in this thread are fine machines. Awesome displays of engineering and efficiency, and deserve a title of their own. -

I realize that...so why dont they compare a mustang is the same price range? They do exist.

I get your point a little better, might not agree 100% but respect it. There's always people's perceptions of what car's should be described as. heck, to some purists the older Mustangs and even camaros were not muscle cars, but "pony" car's.
If I were to go to that muscle car era, I would go the "resto-mod" route, but that actually devalues the car. the way the market works on those cars basically forces me not to own one. oh well, I can look at other people's and like them without spending the tons of cash. that said, i wouldnt mid having a 67 fastback Mustang (red on black or vice versa) sitting in my garage.Living Room 2 Channel -
