Muscle Car: Pick 1 of 3 (corrected)

Wife approved.
Since I won't be racing, I don't care about which one is fastest. I'm leaning towards the Challenger but I'm hesitant about it being a Dodge (bad experiences). I love the retro look and the large size. Has to be an automatic because I'm stuck in traffic 2-4 hours a day and the wife wants to drive it, too.
So, which would you pick? If you've bought one of the three already, why?
Edmunds picked the Camero.

Camero S/S hands down... the Dodge is Fugly and the Mustang isn't that impressive. However, I still get a hard on every time see the S/S...Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

I voted for the Camaro thinking you meant in general, heralding back to the days of muscle cars. After reading your post, for a new option, I go with the Mustang, personally.
However, if I had to get an automatic, I'm not sure I'd choose any of themGeorge Grand wrote: »

Well, IF I had the $$$ to drop, I'd pick the SS, but, for other reasons, I'd pick the GT.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

What's a "Camero"?
I saw that and tried to edit but couldn't. See the "Last edit" attempt at 9:26PM. Guess it's not an option when you're polling. -
...for other reasons, I'd pick the GT.
What reasons are those if you don't mind me asking? -
I really want a 'cuda so the challenger gets my vote just for style. My Grand National already gives me acceleration smiles.

If my wife had managed to stay employed, we were considering getting a Camaro. My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

My guess is like most of them 3.8 liter twin turbo, 4 speed auto or 5 speed stick and freaking faster than any Detroit car including the Vette the year it was new. Most likely black with blackout side windows. Maybe t-roofs but not likely. A most awesome product from Buick in the mid 80's. Am I close Cincycat13?SDA-1C (full mods)

I'd take the Camaro...hands down. The new Mustangs just don't really do it for me. The Challenger's are really nice looking...but I have a strong aversion to Dodges...lol
The Camaro's just the most balanced looking of all of them IMO.
According to several articles and videos I've watched...the Challenger handles roughly as well as the full size Dodge trucks do...lol
By the way...if you're thinking about buying a Camero...you should really know how to spell it like Camaro.;)
Being an owner of a 1990 Firebird Formula though...I'm sort of biased towards F-bodies.:)The nirvana inducer-

I feel a bit like a jerk for this thread. It's fun but there are folks out there suffering in this economy and here I am looking at $30+ k cars. -
The Camaro, of course. Here are a couple pics of a pre-production fully loaded SS. We had several different ones before they made it to the showrooms. The sad part....they ended up in the crusher

This one is stock, about 50k mi, and does have the t-bar roof.
Great pix BuckeyTim. I thought I would want the new Camaro, but I dislike how the designer brought the roofline from the driver area to the rear quarter and boxed the trunck. Just my opinion, I like the old curves, but I bet it drives sweet! -

I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
2011 mustang gt all the way. 300lbs lighter than the camaro, only 14 less hp from a much smaller 5.0 ltr for a much more impressive ratio, and 10x the interior quality. Oh and you can forget about hanging your arm out the camaro's window when you're cruising down the blvd. Imo it also looks better with the fastback design.

I own a 2007 GT. That said I like all 3 for different reasons.
Camaro = LS3 V8 sweetness, to me the powerplant makes that car. A strong argument can be made that if you are planning to never mod the car, this might be the choice............that might change in 2011 when the Coyote engine drops in the mustang (the 5.0 coming in 2011, 400 hp in a chassis hundreds of pounds lighter, and tighter)
Mustang = Proven and tested platform, with an unsurpassed aftermarket support. Supercharger? Twin Turbo? Suspension Mods to numerous to count? Gear swap? all READILY available by numerous vendors (good competition for the win).
One con that all mention is the solid rear axle and there is some validity to it. It can be hoppy under hard accelaration and bumps. These are EASILY remidied with suspension mods though (and improved over the years from the factory). I put a full saleen suspension on mine, with a Watts Link on the rear axle. I can outhandle a Camaro without breaking a sweat, it's IRS be damned.
Challenger = the sexiest looking beast of the three, hands down. Problem is, it has the least sexiest interior. seriously the front panel looks the same as all the other Dodge cars. I dont like the Camaro's either but it at least has charachter (and its purpose built for the car), I just dont like the charachter, thats me.
it's also the heaviest, the RT, while a sweet ride and 50 more horses than the current Mustang GT, will lose in most drags to a GT because of the weight. it's WELL over 4000 lbs. It's a sweet cruising machine though. not the nimblest of handling, if your looking for a sporty ride, might have to look elsewhere, the suspension is more than capable though
Long story short, screw what we think. Drive all three and drive what you like.Living Room 2 Channel -

I've driven all three. I love the Camaro looks, but sitting in and driving it
I didn't like it. The Mustang is fun, but cramped, especially in the rear.
The Challenger is better for us old geezers. More room, and still runs pretty good. If you don't want to shell out the extra $10k for a V8 in any of these cars, the Challenger V6 version was the best car of the three, the Camaro v6
was completely useless."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson
