Totally agree with this statement. Big difference between pop, easy listening, disco, & rock. Lots of pop and disco songs mentioned.

Also, there is a fine line between good rock songs that have been played to death and bad rock songs. :D
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support
group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

One of Doro's favorites rock/pop songs, Kajagoogoo "Too Shy".

    Horrible.

Yeah you are right Bob. I was doing some thinking on the subject this morning, sans coffee, and some of those songs that weren't rock just popped into my head as I hated them and decided to put them up for consideration. Too bad it isn't the "worst songs ever" thread. Gosh there are soooo many.:)

I absolutely despise Train's "Drops of Jupiter". It would play every hour at the Officemax I worked at as a kid and ever since then I get furious when it comes on.

I was thinking the same exact thing.

I don't know if I'd call it the worst ever, but I can't stand Rock N Roll all Night by Kiss. Same with Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones, although I do really like a few of their others.

So, I take it you're not a fan of New Wave? I grew up on New Wave. Oingo Boingo, B-52's, Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, Yaz, Erasure, The Bangles, Flock of Seagulls, Go Go's, etc. Love them all! But, I am with you on Thompson Twins.

    I miss the 80's:(

Late 70's, early 80's I don't know. It just gets my vote for one of the worst songs ever.

It could be argued that songs like this (and Kiss) ushered in the hard-rock era era of the 80s. I liked that era, for the most part.

I credit The Beatles for influencing the direction of Hard Rock/Metal because of songs like Revolution and several other songs that came out from the White Wite album and their later work. The also get credit im my book for the concept/art genre because of Sgt. Pepper... I could be wrong here, but I think it safe to say that their influence on music goes far beyond what they themselves recorded.

Yeah, but THAT song? Arrgh! Repetitive non-talent wanna-be rock star in the making with that one. Kinda like Vanilla Ice IMO.

Johnny B. Goode by Judas Priest.

I grew up living and breathing Priest, but the first time I heard this I jumped up thinking someone had switched on the tuner and it was some song on the radio. Because surely I wasn't hearing what I was hearing!!!
    Sadly enough it was true.
If I could delete it from the CD I would.
