Steve, are they called 'carbon' because the driver baskets are made from carbon fiber?

    I think so...

No, probably just the name the designer gave them.

They're based off of these drivers:

I finally finished building my RCM. And for less than $100! Had an old Marantz TT that I picked up at a yard sale for $5, but it was a DOG. The vinyl veneer was a complete wreck, and the wood had gotten wet in a few spots. And it had terrible hum. So I took it apart, peeled off the veneer, sanded down the bulgy spots, and re-veneered it in a lighter color. Mounted the base to a stand I found at a thrift store ($40- talked him down from $65) re-wired the power from the deadman switch on the tone arm to a toggle that I installed where the lever was (because I wanted an automatic, not hand spun). Drilled through the base and the top of the stand to run the PVC vacuum arm, and mounted a little 1 gal shop vac (wal-mart $22) inside the stand. I think it looks and works great!

    Awesome!

What options does it have on it? And do I see upgraded brakes in the pic?
Got every option except the Kicker sound system upgrade. I have aftermarket JL components to put in. The brakes are stock..only difference was in 09 and up they painted the Brembo calipers red.

Very nice, great work. You should look into getting a hold of the rubber clamps used to hold R2R reels in place to put over your spindle to hold the record down tightly while scrubbing and vacuuming.

By forum rules we probably aren't allowed to post pictures of guns, and it's not really a toy, but it's my newest thing. Savage FP10 .308 with Choate tactical stock, Nikon Monarch 6-24x scope. Gets nice 1cm groups and I plan to test it on some feral hogs this weekend.

    Noice! What car?

I have mine fed off an LC-1, and a nice bonus was that it allowed me to sell the crappy Greddy Turbo Timer i had on the car beforehand. :D

Next step is megasquirt. That should be here in the next couple days. I was pretty excited when they released a DIY PNP kit for my car. :)
