Center Channel sounds Blatty

Popped in the Harry Potter Sorc. Stone Blu Ray last night, and while the sounds in other speakers are fine the dialogue from the center channel sounds "blatty" and not very clear. If you turn it up it just gets worse.

I have noticed this from a couple other video game sources and movies, but not all of them. I am just wondering what could be going on here.

I also have noticed a problem with some audio sources going quieter during intense action scenes instead of louder as it should, like a midnight movie mode, but that is not turned on. I notice this mostly in tv shows I have been watching such as TV, and some movies.

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

I am using monitor 50s for the front, cs1 for the center, and monitor 40s for surrounds. I have a sony dg820 receiver.

    I might also add that you will see in my previous posts I have always wondered if it was working correctly since I don't hear the woofers in it appearing to do anything much of the time. Yet other times it sounds fine.

    I wonder if the CS1 just can't keep up... i know almost everyone suggests the CS2 over the CS1.
    I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

    Sounds like there might be a problem with the crossover in the CS1. Take one of your Monitor 40's and hook it up to your center channel input and see if you have the same results.

    Yeah, I would think a CS2 would be a better match for your mains. What AVR you using to drive all this?

    Still today I have not found a center channel I like, I tried a CC-390 Paradigm and did not like it. I have tried the polk CS350-LS, CS200 and still no luck...Well I have a large theater room and I may have to try another brand. Considering the Magnepan CC3 center...

    I agree here, the CS2 would be a much better option for you. Esp. when you want to get some 70's and move those 50's to the back, lol. ;)

    This should help you isolate the problem, and decide what to do from there. You could call Polk CS and see what they can do for you. Mention you are a member here for a discount.
