A5 and PSW 505 setting question

I have normally set my (mains)A5's to small and 505 XO to 80hz.

I am starting to find there is an empty spot (when listening to music on 2 channel) in the sound where the A5's stop and the sub begins.

To improve on this should I set my A5's to large and leave th XO at 80Hz?.
Or should I XO the sub higher than 80Hz and keep the A5 set to small?
Or leave it all as is and start moving the sub around the room?

I know my room layout is probably not helping the separation 16'X20' with many doors in it as it is the 3rd level in a 4 level split.

My current setup is.
yamaha rxv 861 (soon to be replaced by a panny)
Acurus 2X150
RTI A5 (mains)
TC265 (center)
RC85I, and RC55I (surrounds)
thanks in advance

I would try it at 100hz then 120hz and find which sounds best to you. Remember your room can effect the sound so you need to dial the speakers and sub to your ears.

I love how music can brighten up a bad day.

Thanks for the response. I am pretty sure I will have to adjust and play with it for a while...

I'd try raising the crossover point some. I've always preferred a 120hz XO point on my subs.

Where exactly is the "empty spot"? What frequency?

Higher frequencies become more localized. I ran mine at 80 and the sub at 80 for HT , but for music I ran them at full range/large.

When I XO the sub at 80HZ and run the A5's small. In HT the sound is pretty good with that setup.

I have gone from "large" to 100hz and everywhere in between with my 8's (your predecessor). Right now I am at 40 and like it. However, I am listening to a lot more 2 channel now than HT. Good luck.
