Replacement driver...?

I just got an offer to buy another set of very good condition S10's. 50$. (no shipping or anything...a guy from work) But, one of the drivers are blown. MW8500's I think. I know they are no longer available through Polk, but what I am wondering is,...is there a suitable replacement?

I have no problem replacing the drivers in both speakers (I would then have 1 spare for my original set)...

Is there a driver available that would be compatible with them. What about a mod to the x-over to make a replacement compatible? I will still probably buy them just to have some replacement parts for my other set.

When you say they are no longer available through Polk, I'm assuming you have called them and asked them? They always seem to have stuff laying around somewhere, lol. Hope you get what you are looking for.

Yeah, I already tried to buy one from Polk.

These things are in too good of shape to let end up on the burn pile. The guy is unloading some of his "toys". He has a juke box I want and a Gorgar pinball machine (first talking) that I can get for good price.

Dammit! It's like Crack..."The **** be callin' me man!"

Direct from the Polk Audio product page for the S10

"The S10, the top of the S series, is a floor-standing design which uses the new SL5000 Dynamic Balance 1" dome tweeter and the new MW8000 Dynamic Balance 7.5" driver, matched with a Polk 10" bass radiator in a floor-standing configuration that offers deep bass, greater power handling and wider dynamic range."

Maybe look for a pair of S10's on CL/Epray? You only have $50 invested, so you may be able to score a deal off one of those sites and not be out too much. Good luck.

Wow! There was a pair of "slightly" used ones on Ebay. The MW8000... Sold for $104 for the pair, just today! Someone must have wanted them pretty bad. Actually a couple must have really wanted them for it to get that high.

The MW8500 is from the subwoofer of the RT3000p, not the S series.
