@nooshimjohn. the thought is very much appreciated.

going to as phuz put it, play the hell out of them for a while. lots of santana and dire straits.

if i could get the frequency response graphs up, would that help? maybe with a radio shack spl meter and room eq wizard (i think thats whats its called)

what are other lsi25 owners experience with theirs when new? (apart form those already posted)

    hi chaps..

a bit of an update. didnt want to let this thread form false conclusions if any others out there experienced similar problems as me.

its been some time now. and i am happy to report that things have improved. the lsis are no longer treble shy. they're not bright, but not shy either. in fact i dont think that ever was the problem, its just the placement and that twitchy sub setting made the bass overpower the rest that made it seem to be treble shy. my humble opinion anyhow. i have fiddled a great deal with placement and moving stuff around and that has seemed to have reigned them in. i no longer compensate with the eq (except the parametric for room nodes).

and more pertinently, after more listening, my focals now seem relatively bright. there may have been some breaking in of drivers, but i do believe my ears have broken in more than anything else. i certainly do appreciate them now when i can discern what i expect to hear.

to you guys who suggested i stick it through.. thanks chaps. as annoying as it was to put up with, i certainly am not comlpaining near as much as i used to. some tracks simply sound better on the lsis and other better on the focals. their sonic signatures are apparent now. (compared to when one sounded right and the other wrong).

thanks chaps the lending an ear with all the replies.
    much appreciate.

    regards,
    asmd.

ha ha.. yeah it was a mess while setting up. now down to one remote only unless some tweaking or set up required.

    the remotes:

    1 pioneer receiver
    2 logitech harmony
    3 lenovo multimedia pc keyboard/remote
    4 tv remote
    5 htpc remote
    6 cable box remote
    7 blu ray remote
8 in the far corner - logitech duet remote.

the harmony rules them all. its a brilliant piece of kit i tell you. the rest except for the duet stay in the media case with batteries removed.

    :)
