I think you need to take a trip out and experience Marantz yourself...I will say that they make great products. You get what you pay for with Marantz.I have alot of respect for there products.Nice and well built.
As far as buying from that site????no experience here as I don't buy new gear offline.

Denon...hmm...I would rather have Marantz. I never heard Marantz, but anything sounds better than Denon. IMO. Mantis loves denon, lots do, but some just hate em, to each his own i guess. Check out Marantz, Pioneer Elite, Yamaha, Denon (If you must...lol). Yamaha is nice equipment for the price, and they would more than satisfy your bass needs with their 4.0 subwoofer outputs.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

How can you recommend one receiver over another without having ever heard one of them? I'm only trying to understand how you would arrive at a conclusion like that........

Airplay, yes, that site is outstanding. I've made quite a few purchases there myself.

Marantz is good, solid gear, don't hesitate if the price/features meet your standards.

    Cheers,

Denon and Marantz are one company, in case you didn't know. D&M Holdings, and they also recently bought McIntosh Laboratories, Rio, and ReplayTV.

I only have experience with Marantz and not with Denon. I know people that own Denon seem to love their receivers. I guess as with any line of receivers.. the higher end ones are usually pretty darn good. I would think the upper end models of Denon, Onkyo, Marantz, Rotel, NAD, Pioneer Elite, and maybe even Sony ES line would all be very close.

I have to say that the Marantz of today is not so highly respected as the Marantz of the 70's.. when Marantz was "it" for hi fi audio. The warm Marantz sound is all but gone now. While I think their receivers are priced a little higher than the other brands.. . they also sometimes lack the features too.. unless you spend extra money. My thinking is that a Marantz receiver will run about 5 to 10% more than a comprable other big name brand with the same features. Is it 5 to 10% better? I can't say.

I have had not problems with mine since i've had it.. since 1999.

only slight annoyance with the Marantz binding posts.. they are not true 5 way binding posts.. you can not sure spades on them.. and you also can not use dual banana plugs either. The dual banana plugs are spaced to far apart to match the rest of the industry standards. it sucks I know.

    Hope this helps Airplay355

I've had my Marantz SR5000 for nearly 2 years now and she has run perfectly. Marantz builds soild receivers. Mine has yet to have a single problem. It was the same price as an H/K receiver I bought a month earlier (which was returned due to several problems).

    Peace Out~:D
