Well, after about a year and a half of busting my ****, working stupid overtime hours, and taking on projects that nobody else would that were far above what my title has any right to do, and doing nothing in my job description...

Finally got my raise. Wooooo!!!!

They're in discussion of how much it'll actually be, but we're looking at 15-20%, on top of my yearly 3% "Merit" raise.

The only frustrating part is that it's just a step up in the same job class, so i'll continue doing nothing in my job description, but at least the pay will be closer to what people who do what i do usually make. On the plus side, i'll only be under "contract" for one more year before i can start pursuing a high-level systems job or management. Just another step on the long road to a Corporate office job. :D

This post is not to rub in anyone's face. I was never really displeased about my job or the pay, just happy to have a job in a field that is still growing and profitable, this was just a nice surprise. :)

Uncle Sam will REALLY be pleased now with my overtime hours. :p

    Tip to those looking for a job: Look at entry level health insurance positions. The pay isn't terrible, and the advancement oppurtunities are endless. Typically only need a high school diploma. Health insurance is alive and well, and you may just learn something along the way. :D

    DAC and an anti-jitter unit (Nik is helping me work on this now, because he's the man :) ), then more isolation tweaks for my components.

    Then finish paying off a ring.

    It does feel good finding out that i'm NOT in a hamster wheel, yes! :p

    It'll feel better March 19th when i get the first check with the new wages on it. ;) Cross your fingers for me, March could be a good month. Tax return, two "free" paychecks, and an off-cycle bonus check. If i make out good, it'll be time for a major upgrade in the 2-channel rig sooner rather than later. :)

    Spend my money. Let's say i can budget $500 in March for upgrades. What should i be looking at? (For what it's worth the fact that i have one silver-face piece of gear bugs me from an asthetic standpoint.)

    Already have a DAC/anti-jitter lined up, that's not included in the $500.

    If anyone suggests speakers, they gotta be tower speakers. I don't have room for refridgerators or panels. I'm also all good on cables for the time being.

    Where, though? I'm not interested in switching out my Pre just yet, and i'm afraid that $500 may not do much in the area of tube amps? I could be wrong i guess.

    But i do know that tubes rule... the buffer has given me a small taste of that.

    I was honestly thinking along the lines of a better source, sand amp, or speakers, in that order. Sound about right?

    Maybe i should make a new thread. :p
