Do you know for sure it's the center channel amp? Have you swapped a front speaker output with the center playing stereo to feed speaker? Play all channel stereo to rule out decoder?

Short of sending it in, not sure what to say sounds like a bias problem or open transistor. I assume it's component electronics and not a chip amp thing.

Bias is the voltage needed to conduct a transistor on, if the voltage is not correct your amp sounds like ****. Something in that amp is bad a driver transistor or an output transistor.

If you don't wish to send it out, this is when you can update the receiver. Does this AVR have pre amp outputs if so you could get an amp for the center channel or do all front speakers with a 3 channel amp. It's a little odd that the center channel is bad, even if fixed why couldn't blow it again? Just thinking a loud, an amp could be a sweet update.
