Any thoughts on the paradigm studio 60. How would they stack up to the rti a9's?

better but coast more, there are better towers for the money if your going to spend that much.
Really thats not a fair comparison, polks LSI speaker line is more for music vs the RTIa.
For roughly 1500-2000, I m thinking maybe Def tech Mythso Super towers. I would pick those hands down over the studio 60s or try and see if you can find a good deal on some LSI speakers but DO NOT pay MSRP for the studio 60s or the LSI.Monitor 60s, CS10 front

They are different speakers. They Studio 60's are a much better built sexier looking speaker. I'd have to say they are a slighty better sounding speaker but not by much at all actually I'm not a huge fan of Paradigm anything floor standing. I love everything else they do.
As noted Def Tech Mythos towers are a great step up from a RTia series speaker. Depending on what your trying to improve , the Def Tech do everything better then the RTIA's. In my opinion.Dan

Very different speakers. B&W at the same price is a better musical speaker and almost as good as a theater speaker IMO. This comes down to personal choice , what one expects out of ones system. B&W speakers are some of the finest in the world at what they do. I currently own Mythos Super Towers and would love to move into B&W. But I have a strong musical interest with a Strong theater interest. I have been down the musical road and decided to improve my theater response. The Super Towers do this the best I have ever owned but when I go listen to a pair of CM9's from B&W I 2nd guess my decision to go more theater then music. The Super Towers are wonderful for music but I think I might like the CM9's slightly more. I would have to get them here in my home for a shootout to really lock down a decision if they are the better choice for me needs.
So really thats what it comes down to when your in this level of speakers. Choice and needs. All speakers talked about here are all fantastic in their own right.Dan

Manskito makes a very good point about not paying MSRP and mantis is correct in his statement about all the choices mentioned being good speakers. Little diclaimer here...all the following thoughts are opinions and nothing more. I can't say I'm a fan of Def Tech. I auditioned the top end STS towers about a year and a half ago and was completely underwhelmed. To me it sounded like they were playing in a cardboard box. To be fair, I was also listening to Vandersteins running off of all Mac gear and a couple of other more expensive speakers, so I suppose the Def Techs failing to impress isn't a big surprise.
As for the Paradigms, the Studio 60's were ok, but the 100's blew them away. I know the 100's are out of the price range you were looking at unless you go used. Another thing I need to mention is that I've mainly listened to v.4, not the new v.5's. I feel an external amp is necessary to get the full benefit of Studios.
My experience with B&W's is not that extensive. My dealer only recently started carrying them. I've heard the 600 and 800 series. The 600 series was good, but just didn't draw me into the music. The 802's pretty much blew me away, but for what they cost, they better!
Tough call in that price range, but if I was buying, I'd probably go for Paradigm or B&W. The choice really depends on you primary use. I'm more into music than movies and what suits my needs might not be the best choice for everyone.
