TV / Internet Service Suggestions

As of right now, I am currently with Comcast getting a pretty standard package with the low HD package and 7mbps Internet. The promotional pricing has ended and was jacked from 80 bucks (3 hd boxes) up to 130 bucks per month.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look into next? Good experience with any of the dish companies? If so, how do you go about getting your internet (need something FAST). Not too concerned about pricing as long as what I am getting is more than Comcasts HD service.

Well, since you're in Denver and I work for Qwest........

Look into a Directv and dsl package, we're on ( I know) www.qwest.com.

I assume you are talking about the Verizon service... Not available in my area :( Looked great but not an option. I'm leaning towards Direct Tv because that would allow me to get sunday ticket and avoid the misplaced fan syndrome and watch the Packers from home instead of spending 30 bucks at BWW. Any good or bad things about direct tv?

Bad thing about the dish is the contract and it doesn't solve your internet needs. Other than that, my dad has it and loves it. I have also heard good stuff about U-Verse from friends in my area who have gotten it.

Not wanting to be overly blunt here, but I play in the HS internet world for a living, and at the speed you want you're going to be on a wired connection for now. In just about every metro area your options for that are going to be your cable or dial tone provider. You ruled out one and are looking to dump the other. In other words your choices are limited.

I just saw on the news this morning that Google is experimenting with a 1 gig internet connection. Maybe you can wait for one of those.

Directv is cool. The signal is much less compressed than the signal you get from the cable companies.

Not sure if AT&T has their U-Verse service in your are but it is working quite well for me. TV over IP means no more ground loop issues in my system. :D

Seconded. U-Verse is awesome. I pay marginally more than OP, and that's for EVERYTHING. I have every movie channel, all HD, etc etc etc.

Yeah, cost is the downfall. It's a minimum of $60/mo to get HD channels but their customer service is a step above. They've been responsive every time I've had a problem. It is a new service and they are still working out some of the bugs but if you're patient with them, they do eventually find good wire pairs, etc. to get you the best experience.

I'd actually consider their cost to be a plus... :p They're cheaper than comcast's equivalent packages around here, and Comcast can't even match what i've got right now. :D
