Hey guys,
I've been enjoying this system too much to even find the time to take some pics; however, I recently updated my insurance policy and well needed to take pics of my gear. So, I took some quick flashes for you guys.

My system:

Nice setup, man. So... how is that Epson 8500? My Sanyo PLV-Z2000 is about to go in for a burned up polarizer (just like my Z2 did at the 2 year mark - I guess they don't expect anyone to put 5,000 bulb hours on them in 2 years like I have), and I'm thinking about stepping up to something better. I wasn't a fan of the auto-iris stuff on the Sanyos, but are you using that on the Epson?Equipment list:

I honestly haven't experimented with the auto iris. The picture is generally so balanced that I haven't felt the need. I do like how the projector adjust to the initial brightness of the content by switching between the Living Room or THX presets. This is kinda like auto iris, just not continuous through the programming. -

This happened . . . I purchased it. It will be done February 15th. I used the proceeds from the old system to fund a ring and buy the present HT. Plus, the girl enjoys HT more than 2ch so the present system allows our interests to converge a lot more.
. . . but, I am making new plans to revive my 2ch once I get into a new place.
Mike -
By the way, sorry the pics are kinda dark. I blacked out my dual 10 foot by 5 foot windows completely to provide the ideal projector environment.

Gotcha... i'm in the same boat, but selling my setup wouldn't even make a dent in the ring, so i get to keep it.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

The brain splatter on the MW2 pic is great.

Looks very nice buddy boy. One question...isn't that center tilted up a tad too much ? Seems like it's aimed over your head when sitting. Could be the optical illusion thing though.HT SYSTEM-

Nice HT set up. My only comments are some of ya'll are spending too much on rings;)
Buy used and get a better deal...works that way in the audio world. Why treat the fiance better than your own ears? And yes, my wife is wearing a ring that was "pre-owned" and loves it. -
Awesome looking setup!

Hell, for that matter, get a pre-owned wife. Their expectations are low, and some of them just speak Russian, so you don't even have to talk to them.
So SolidSqual, what did you mean by "the benchmark for diminishing returns"? Is the 8500 not worth the money over previous models or something?Equipment list:

The 8500 is definitely worth the cash, but I think anything substantially better requires much more cash. The 8500 was a big leap over the 8100. I checked out some JVC projectors as well but in the end decided the 8500 picture was good enough for me. I figured I'd save the cash and put it towards a new 2ch setup. -

Ditto. I had mine custom made. She knows I sold my rig to fund that monstrosity. I bet she mocks me by holding it up to my ear and asking me how it sounds. -

I'm experimenting with this. If the CC is set in its normal position, then its a bit low. -
Nice setup! Those A9 are monsters, makes the micro subs look even smaller.;)
I know you didn't ask but if I may make a suggestion in painting at least your front wall a darker color with a flat/satin finish. It will help with the light reflections and wash/contrast of the picture. -
Nice setup !!!!!! Did that gun come free with the wedding ring?::D

Finally some pics. Looks good man. Tone down that screen wall and watch the black level of that 8500 get even better (more pop to the image also). I like it bro. If you need center stand recommendations check out Lovan M2 Center stand.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

8500 has been called the poor man's JVC. Close but just not quite up there. No pun intended just citing reviews. For the price though it's a stellar PJ. I think if you seen a calibrated JVC you would definitely see what the hype is all about though.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

One thing I did noticed with my JVC projector is that it's not as bright as the epson was. The only negative I've found so far. Wish it was a little brighter. -

Painting the screen wall is kinda not an option. First, this is an apartment and I have to return it to the way it was before I arrived. Second, most of the wall is two long blinds covering up large windows.
Would getting some long drapes and stretching them across the wall do the trick? How high do I need t go? The wall is 15 feet . . . -

Hehe, no that was a birthday gift from my Dad, I like to wear it on my hip while playing Modern Warfare:rolleyes: -

I don't want a woman that bases her love for me on the dollar amount of the ring that I buy her. I would NEVER even consider spending what some people do on a piece of jewelry.
Either way, congrats on the engagement!

First, I am missing the hell out of the 2 channel setup, but where my HT lacks in music, it kills in movies and videogames. So it's a trade-off.
Second, my girlfriend is by no means materialistic, and she'd say "I do" if I got her a $500 ring from TJMaxx. I got her this ring because I wanted to. Selling my gear was symbolic, but also a good reason to start over as I felt my focus got a little out of hand and some synergy was lost.
EDIT, and Jesus guys . . . how much do you think I spent on the ring? I've bought audio systems that cost most . . . I can't let her think she's worth less than my speakers
