Agree....I am dumping Comcast and going with AT&T and its bundled package. Save me about $40.00 a month. That's almost $500.00 a year

Fios down here with the same perks cost almost double. I love Comcast but I have run into the same problem with them bringing the wrong replacement. Was the tech a Comcast employee or a contractor?

    How is it?

I just got a mail today from ATT saying I am in the U-verse area. It certainly seems better that Comcast. The drawback is I just signed up for another 3 year term with Tivo, and ATT throws in a DVR with U-verse. But, I hate Comcast, and I might be able to use the Tivo on another TV.

At least they didn't cut the wire that was running right out of your wall- the one that's two years older than you are...

Only thing that sucks about Comcast is that they have no customer service...

A little more grammar, and a lot less caps will give you a much longer life expectancy!

Chances are the guy who came to your house was a contracted technician, and not an actual Comcast employee. It's still stupid that he screwed up, but it's much less likely to happen with actual Comcast techs. Hopefully FIOS gets to my neighborhood soon...I got the letter saying it was available, but so far both online and on the phone no one seems to be able to confirm that...

GIVE ME FIOS OR GIVE ME DEATH! I really want to ditch my seedbox already.

I know DVR's aren't cheap.. but with that said, you would think a cable TV installer would carry more than one cable box with them, right? or have extra one of each. Maybe I don't know how install techs work if they are contracted...

I had something similar happen to me with Comcast. DVR just didn't work.. so even though I didn't have to schedule another appointment, the installer had to return the next day to install the box. Happy since, but the box is a little buggy taking commands from the remote. IS the firmware ever updated on these things once they install it in your home? Just asking.

Yes Al they do automatic updates several times a year. I would call Comcast and tell them your problem. It soundes like they need to reset the DVR.

AT&T's 80gb bandwidth limit pretty much kills me using their DSL service, and their Uverse service (which has unlimited bandwidth) isn't in my area. Comcast isn't much better, since they limit you to 250gb a month for regular cable modem service, but since I'm on their business plan, I get unlimited bandwidth... which is good, 'cause my average use is typically around 350-400gb a month. Verizon's not here either, so I'm stuck with Comcast for now.

Be glad if all you have to deal with is a cable tech bringing you a box. I went months with my internet messed up because the geniuses they sent out couldn't figure out they had a bad junction box at the street.

I've found the oposite to be true. My internet through Time Warner is crazy fast, even at the lowest level which is what I have.

As for stability, I'll admit I was an early adopter for U-Verse, but when I had it the equipment was glitchy, took them 8 hours to get it set up, and the DVR was just as **** as the Time Warner box, which is why I switched in the first place.

The channel selection was good with AT&T, better than what Time Warner had at the time but TW has stepped up their offerings.

I also like the whole house DVR thing with U-Verse, something I don't get with Time Warner.

I have zero stability issues with Time Warner, in about 8 combined years of service, I've never had a single outage that I'm aware of (I once travelled quite a bit so there's a chance there could have been an outage during that time that I never experienced because I was on the road).

The Time Warner DVR absolutely sucks balls, in my opinion it's one of the worst devices ever created, and humanity should be ashamed of itself for creating such an abomination. It's not just me either, EVERYONE I know who has the box has the same lock-ups and delays that I did. Luckily, there's a cure for this - it's called TIVO BABY!!!

I bought a TiVo box some time back, now I have 3, and got the cable cards from Time Warner and everything works perfectly - I have good service with all the HD channels I want and a good DVR box.

The one bummer for me is no NFL Sunday Ticket, as that's DirectTV only and I can't really get them here.

The BIGGEST issue I had with Uverse was that at the time they only let you have ONE HD FEDD PER HOUSE! I've heard this has changed and most areas around here let you have up to 2. That's actually still not enough for me - I have enough shows that overlap on some nights that I actually need 4 simultaneous HD feeds, and U-Verse isn't currently able to meet that requirement for me.

Oh, they'll tell you that you can record 4 shows at once, but what they don't tell you is that they can't all be in HD. I'm not sure how this is around the country, but this is something anyone looking into U-Verse should check out first..

Is Time Warner Comcast? I haven't had Comcast in over a year now... it WAS nice not really paying for their "services" though, because every month i would call and complain about something not working, get **** customer service, escalate it, and end up getting my bill waived since it all worked less than 50% of the time. :p

I haven't had one single hiccup with U-Verse yet, and when i test my internet connection speed, i actually get the 12mbps that i pay for. Rather than with comcast, seeing MAYBE 1mbps on a good day, paying for 12 or whatever the highest was. We may have a different definition of "crazy fast." ;)

Might be different in different areas, i have no idea, but Comcast will never get another dime of my money as long as i live.

We have both Comcast and Direct TV. If I do a split screen there is an obvious picture quality issue in Direct TV's favor. I have the basic package with comcast because our satellite goes out easily in storms etc. Comcast almost never goes out.
We use the comcast internet as well and we are satisfied with that.
We tried to change to UVerse but its not in our neighborhood yet. We're not to keen on the box out in front of our house either, plus the trenching to bury the cable. We'll watch the UVerse deals and report on them if they ever come to us.

I don't think so. I've used Comcast phone, internet and cable TV and whatever was availible for over 12 years now and have only had one grip which I posted a thread like two or three years ago. The only real pita about Comcast, as I believe with any of these types of companies, is that I have to renegotiate the contract every two years.
