Hi Guy's,

I just got done adding my system to the System Showcase. I would appreciate any comments :-).

I got out bidded on EBAY on the RTA 11's that were there. I had to go take care of an errand and I lost by $5. Oh well, I will try again later.

I found a pair of Monitor 10B's that a guy is trying to sell. How well do you think these would work with my SDA2B's as surround speakers.

Hope everybody had a great weekend

Gary

Good presentation of a nice clean rig Gary. B&K, Adcom, more B&K, nice separates for now and later on as you move on.

Too bad about the RTA11's... need to refine your sniping technique...
    More later,

I know the wires are a mess right know, but I have been banging my head on the wall trying to get the Adcom GFA-5500 to work with the SDA2B's. It turns out the Adcom amp is a non common ground amp. I have been working with Ken from polk trying to modify the SDA cable with an isolation transformer. Needless to say I have been trying different amps in the testing process and have messed around a lot with the wires. I debated about trying to clean them up before taking the pictures, but I figured that I would just mess them up again shortly.

In regards to the SDA cable, I think that the isolation transformer I got was bad from the get go. I have ordered a new one and hope that it resolves the problem.

It has been along time since I heard the Monitor 10b speakers. Anybody with a fresher memory than mine have an idea how they would match up with the SDA2B's. I know they have the SL2500 tweeter and the SDA2B's have the SL2000. Or should I just wait and try and find some polks on EBAY that have the SL2000 tweeter in them?

Monitor 10s would match up well with your SDAs. I have SDA 2As and previously had a set of Monitor 10Bs.

Last night I was surfing around on ebay and came across a set of SDA2B's. There was only 30 minutes left on the auction so I made the executive decision and went for them. Well I won them for $321. I am not sure if I will have the SDA cable connected or not to them. Not sure how that would work using them as rears, but I figured I could run them without the cable in regular stereo mode. I would think that they should work great as the rears on my surround sound system :)

Anyway I can not wait to get them and hook them up. Four SDA2B's, I never thought I would find another pair.

I don't see any mention of the speakers in the showcase....

They should work fine as rears, but I think you'll find they sound fuller (better) with the interconnect cable hooked up.

As soon as I get them, I will post some new pictures in the System Showcase.

I figured that I would try hooking them up both ways and see which way they sound better. I was hoping they would sound better with the SDA cable connected but I figured I would try both ways.

I just go the info that they were justed shipped. I dont think I am going to be able to sleep until they get here :D

Congrats Gary, I was watching the 2B's on ebay and saw a familiar name was the winner. Still need to work on your sniping a bit. ;)

Looks like you have the room behind you to make them work with the interconnect. Next you're going to have to upgrade the ref 20, those LS f/x's, add another B&K... and so it goes... :D

    Hi Tour2ma,

I was watching them for about 2 hours and seeing where the bids went. Nobody bid on them to up the price so I waited until about 2 minutes left and bid. I gave my self about a $50 margin.

As soon as I bid, the other bidder responded, but he did not have his max bid high enough and time ran out before he could get another one in. When I did a refresh the screen said 4 seconds left on the auction.

In regards to upgrades, my next step will probably be getting my B&K Reference 20 upgraded to the Reference 50. The cost is about $800 dollars ( so I've been told). This will not get me all the connections of the Ref 50 but they can not squeeze all of them in because of the size difference of the cases. It will get me DVD Audio and the latest surround formats though. I think I will try to talk the wife into that as a christmas present :-)
