My 2nd pair of Fxi A6 just came in today. Was really excited that I finally have 7.1 rig. Was watching Transformer II (DTS-HD MA) and it sounded great but thing is the rear surrounds sounded much lower than the sides. I can manually adjust the volume and all but I noticed that on my Onkyo 805 the rear surrounds light was not lit up using THX ultra2 mode. I read on forums that there are only a handful of Blue-rays that have the 7.1 audio format. Can anyone confirm this? I don't think I have a single blue ray that has 7.1 audio format. :mad::mad:

Front: Rti A9
Center: Rti A6
Surrounds Fxi A6 ( 2 pairs )
Onkyo 805
Velodyne dsp 10
Sony Bdp s-300

I need some input of the following players that I had in mind for upgrade;

Oppo BD-83
Oppo BD-80
Ps3 slim

Thanks

    This website claims only about 7% of discs are 7.1 format.

    Also, as far as blu ray players are concerned.

    the Oppo BD-83 probably has the best video quality, so if that is what you are after, then i'd go with that.

    I can't imagine why anyone would want a BD-80 over a PS3. I mean, for the same money you get nearly the same thing as far as blu ray playing, plus all the extra features a PS3 offers. the only thing you really lose is the 7.1 outputs, which you don't really need since you have an HDMI capable reciever.

    I don't have any advice on how much "better" the video quality of the BD-83 vs the PS3 is, as i don't have a BD-83. I do have an OPPO DVD player and it is great. Definitely better than than the Sony DVD player it replaced.

    +1 on the PS3. I know the Oppo's get all sorts of good press, but IMHO the PS3 is the best bang for the buck when it comes to Blu Ray's. Plus if you game at all, it is an evern better deal. I love mine, and it has yet to dissapoint me.

    +1 on the PS3, it's a great value especially if you game.

    The up-conversion on standard def DVDs is great too.
