My Panny Viera 42" 720p is rapidly approaching 2 years old and nothing but great so far.

    Another knock on wood here.!.!

Is it possible that all of our sets are affected but we're not anal enough to note a rise in black levels? Just a thought.

You will notice when this happens. The worst part is the horrible IR that you suddenly get with it.

Same here, I bought a Panny Viera 42" 720p last May and haven't had any issues with it.

Admittedly it doesn't get a lot of use, but it still hasn't had any problems.

Got the same model, not one problem ever.

50" 1080p in the den and 58" 1080p in the living room for 30 months and looking better than ever. I have both on power conditioners / battery backups and wonder if that clean power hitting the circuits 24/7 will work to mitigate whatever causes what you are talking about.

I've been using my Panny 50" (5 years) and 42" (4 years) and zero problem so far. I haven't visit AVS forum for a long time so I'll have to get over there and do some catchup reading on the issue in question.
