Installing a new driver in a Monitor 60

The clips do slide off, but you have to apply some force to make it happen. And you have to grip the clip when you pull it, not the wire. Sorry you pulled one off, not sure exactly what to do about that. Someone else will chime in.Speakers: Polk LSi15

Also all the drivers are silver and they sent me ones that are black so if I change out all 3 then my speaker will not match my other one if I choose to run them with my grills off.
My 'secret" is I grab the crimp barrel of the clip and then put my finger between the magnet and the pliers and then pry against my finger so that it is pulling the clip straight up. I also rock it side to side, alittle, whhile pulling up. Clips on newer speakers can be very tight, but this has always worked for me without issue.
As far as the black cone vs the silver cone, given that they don't match, I would only replace the 'bad' one, which is in the bottom MW location (IF I remember right?) with a black one. I would then replace the same MW location on the other speaker, so that they match. That should 'net' you two extra, silver coned MW's, one new and one used. It will also keep your speakers symmetrical, both in acoustics and in looksUnderworld54 wrote: »I just pulled the wire off one of the clips....now what? Grrrrrr.
You can either use a standard crimp on spade connector, or try and open up the one you pulled off and re-crimp it. However, I have not had too much luch 'opening' already crimped connectors. Easier to just use a new one. -

I was at radio shack and they didn't have ones that were exactly the same. They were either to big or to small. My brother is coming tomorrow to check it out, he's very good at wiring things so i'm sure he can take care of it. I'm seriously sick to my stomach that this happened. -
Hey don't sweat it, you'll get it fixed. You can use one that is abit too big, just squeeze them down so they fit tight.....FYI, PartsExpress has the right sizes, especially if you are looking for the small, 0.110" size ones for the tweeters and drivers. Looks like the 'big ones' for your MW drivers are 0.205". If you look at the wiring diagrams (in the Vintage section) they have the sizes specified on there.

Thanks for calming me down, I looked at the connector that came off and I noticed a little piece of wire is still stuck in there, will this pose a problem? -
Are these the ones? What's with the plastic?

yep, those are the 0.205 ones. Although, if that is the one you 'tore' off , you should be able to use a standard 1/4" spade.(you can get those at Home depot or Lowe's, if you don't have them) Just squeeze it slightly before pushing it on. It should be snug.
As far as prep for the end of the wire, just clip it off even with where you have full thickness wire and restrip it. -
My brother should be coming over this evening to reattach a female connector to the speaker wire so i'll be all set with that.
I contacted Kim at Polk and asked him why I had gotten 1 silver driver and 2 blue ones and he wasn't sure why. He said he'll look into it and get a new driver set sent out with the correct ones included. Will I be ok running my speaker with 2 older drivers and one brand new one until the new ones arrive and I can switch the other 2 out? -
All Fixed!
Not sure if I am even going to switch the other ones out when Kim send's me the correct silver drivers. -
congrats hope you are now back to enjoying your system;)
