Polk is sending me a replacement driver for one of my Monitor 60's and I was wondering how much of a chore is it to replace them? Can someone maybe give me some direction on doing this? I really appreciate it, I don't want to screw anything up.

If you know how to hold a screw driver, in this case mostly it will be a Alan Wrench probably 3.5size, you should be done in 10 minutes max, just be gentle while **** in the new one don't damage the cone or the rubber surround thats the common mistake, tighten the bolts in tandem with other ones, dont tighten one single bolt at a time. Also be gentle while disconnecting the wires at the mid woofer terminals,:p probably it took more time for me to type than it will take you to change the mid woofer

Agreed - it's very straight forward.

Get all the screws started so the driver is properly aligned - don't overtighten.

Agreed, you should have no problems at all. Fairly straight forward. Good luck.

I just received an e-mail from Kim from Polk and it sounds like she is sending me a complete set of drivers for the speaker even though only one is shot. How do I know which is which when I go to replace the faulty one? I'm only going to replace the faulty one and save whatever else I get for future use if need be. If it helps guys there are 3 drivers in the Monitor 60's and it's the bottom one that is faulty.

They should all be the same driver? They are all "5-1/4" Diameter Dynamic Balance Bi-laminate composite cone driver, magnetically shielded." Direct from Polk's product page. Someone with more knowledge should be able to confirm/deny this claim on my part.

Monitor 60's should have 3 Mid/Woofers and 1 Tweeter. The tweeter is the small silver colored one in between the top two drivers.

    Yeah.

Put the tweeter in the small hole. Put the midranges in the big holes. ;) (3 of them)

Would I be ok just to change the driver that is faulty and save the other for future use or should I go ahead and change everything?

    Sure. :)

I'd PERSONALLY replace them all, then keep your old good driver as a spare, but either way works.

Ok guys, I got my driver set today from Polk and I received 2 drivers with black cones and 1 with a silver cone. Which of these go where? I'm going to take all your advice and replace all of them in that on Monitor 60.

Black cones (larger ones) should be the woofers, and the silver cone (smaller one) is the tweeter. Just pop the grille off the other speaker and use it as a reference. Good luck, hope you get it done.

Just take the grills off and replace the drivers one at a time, matching the one you took out to the one you're about to put in. Its really simple. Like the others said, be careful with your tools so you don't slip and puncture anything. Also, make sure you don't overtighten the screws when you put them back in, they will strip easily and pull right out of the MDF. Good luck,

Better to make them lie flat, make sure you remove the Banana or Speaker wire connections from the rear, Treat them like changing for a new Born baby:p
Dont get tensed, thats the key, handle the tool with utmost care with regards to the new drivers let us know once you are done.

You mean just undo the wire right? not actually take apart the terminals.

Can someone please tell me what the secret is to get the clips seperated? They should slide out and they aren't. Also all the drivers are silver and they sent me ones that are black so if I change out all 3 then my speaker will not match my other one if I choose to run them with my grills off.
