Can We Stop Please?

Can we stop bashing Emotiva and ignore any baiting members who own Emotiva gear? It's really become OLD! and doesn't give our club a good image. I could care less what other members of other forums think of us but it doesn't put Polk Audio in a good light.

I've never bashed Emotiva gear as I've not heard any of their offerings. I am however guilty of taking the bait and running with it when an Emo fanboy does bait.

I realize that many of the threads that are Emotiva related get honest, respectful advice but this crap of going hogwild in some threads or starting threads just to mock Emotiva needs to stop. Please.

I'm not falling for the bait anymore.

Just thinking out loud.:)

I honestly didn't know Emotiva was a brand that caused trouble. I thought that was limited to Bose and monster. I m just wondering (not baiting) is there something wrong with there amps? Because i was considering a used stereo amp from emotiva/adcom.

You've got my vote. Almost universally when someone even mentions Emotiva, he/she is immediately accused of trying to troll/bait/flame, whatever, even if their post is perfectly honest and truthful. It's very unprofessional in most cases. And in my opinion, it reflects very poorly on Polk Audio as a respectable audio community. If you disagree with something someone says, respond with exact reasons why you disagree. Don't belittle them for their comments/beliefs.

The mods can simply delete or lock the threads. They can also warn and ban obnoxious posters. This is what's done in other forums and should be done here as well.

Hearingimpared, I will also give you my support, but I would like to also point out that it does NOT reflect poorly on this forum that Emo issues become pissing contests. Rather it is a reflection upon Emo owners themselves. For to long, there has been a concerted effort on the part of a few Emo owners to shove an agenda down the throats of those that own very expensive "high end" gear and attempts made to rub those peoples noses in it so to speak, that here is a $800.00 amp that is BETTER than an 8K amp. Rightfully so, those owners get upset over these ludicrous claims.

Let's be clear on this point. Nobody believes Emo gear to be complete junk, and by that notion, nobody believes them to be the greatest gear on earth either. There are a few exceptions to this statement, and those that espouse the belief that Emo's are the work of God himself are the ones causing trouble.

Emo owners should be embraced and treated with respect for them and their gear. EMOETTES should be banned from this forum, tarred and feathered and sent packing back to Emoland in disgrace.

That's not what this place is about. If you want to be constantly policed or over-moderated, there are plenty of other places to choose from.

I disagree, I'm new to this Forum, been here for a month sofar. I only joined prior to purchasing my RTiA9's and CSiA6's. Ive enjoyed the reading the wealth of info, but as i have stated in another thread, this forum (due to some of the member posts) has reminded me of the immaturity seen on ClubSi. All this crap talk about Emotiva, and fun made of its owner's decisions has negatively affected my opinion of this forum. After purchase of my Polks, i purchased an Emo Amp, does this make me lesser of an audiophile/fanatic than you? Maybe, maybe not....really who cares?... I think some of you need to relax. If someone's opinion on an internet forum really bothers you that much then i think you need to turn off your computer, walk out of the room and check yourself into a mental institution... Seriously, just let opinions be and enjoy what you have for all its worth, let everyone else do same...... plain and simple.

I do not think my position that this forum has been a target for other forums to come after is wrong. Take a look at last night's fiasco and you will see what I am talking about. Perhaps it is the Marine in me that is quick to defend that is to blame for some of my response and I see where that can cause issues. I will work on that.

One thing that has not been mentioned is that this place more than most other forums is very much like a large extended family. We tend to look out for each other here, and that is what makes CP special. Newcomers to the site tend to lack that understanding and I believe this is where some of the "snobbishness" is perceived. I am quite confident that if you were to go over to the other place and say some of the things about their gear as they say about what we have in our rigs, you would get banned for life.
CP does not do that here, and the result is a wonderful mix of people and equipment, ideas and solutions. It is the reason we garner so much attention here... This place is simply the best Audio forum on the web, PERIOD!
