Best bang for buck processor

I am now ready for a processor to go along with my new Rotel 1075 amp.
My thoughts are Rotel RSP 1066 @$1499 MSRP, Rotel RSP 1098 @$2999(more than I want to spend), Outlaw 950@$899 includes tuner, or Adcom GTP 860@$1499 also with tuner and analog SACD and DVD-a outputs. B & K Ref 50 would be in there if I was looking in the $3000 range but I am not...trying to stay around the $1500 MSRP range.
What is the advantage of the Rotel 1098 over the 1066 for double the cost? Curiosity only.
My speakers are Polk LSi's x 5....I use my system almost even HT and music....two channel as well as SACD and DVD-a.
Any input would be appreciated. Or other manufactures not included above.
Thanks
Rick

rickfaldo,
for the money nothing beates the rsp1066......nothing in my opnion.
Going with other brands is not or will not be my advise.I feel sticking with the same amp/processor makes for a better match.Thats just how I feel.
No need to spend the extra cash on the rsp1098 unless you have it.It's more upgradable the the rsp1066 but for twice the price...I would go rsp1066 and call it a day....Dan

Nothin' like a Sony 777ES Reference SACD player...I don't know about Sony ES Amp/pre quality, but I will stand by to their CD/SACD players. Great sounding players!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Sony 777ES Reference SACD player,
I have had my eye on this for awhile. It's really nice.I love the way it sounds and the built quality is second to none.Dan

Does the Sony 777ES also decode DVD-A?
Next, is there a player of this quality available with 5 disc capability?
Rick -
The Sony SCD XA777ES (current model) does not do DVD-A, nor do any Sony models. I've had this sucker on order since mid-March and they tell me now that it'll be 3 more weeks....:supermad:
The only 5 spinner that comes close is the Sony SCD 555ES at $800.00 new, $500.00 used. Stereophile class A rated. Not a bad piece if you're not looking for a reference player.
Dan, Rotel??? I thought your allday gear was B&K. eh?Political Correctness'.........defined

OKay, what are some of the good DVD-a and SACD DVD players (plays both) around and are there manufacturers who produce these units with more than one disc options? I think Pioneer has a new model that does....but single disc only.
Seems goofy to me to be plugging one music "CD" in at a time. Just when you get groovin', you gotta get up and find more music.
I know ideally I should have one of each, dvd, sacd, dvd-a, cd player, but in the real world of mine, if one can do a decent job of all four, or at least three-dvd, dvd-a, sacd, I'd be happy. The dvd player has to of course be progressive scan.....

Rick,
on my wish list would be a SACD DVD AUDIO progressive scan dvd player.Pioneeer Elite should release one.I would be first to buy it.300 to 400 disc would be great.
Today there is no such thing.Megachangers are the way to go in my opnion.I have a 300 disc pioneer Elite pdf-19 cd player,i broke just awhile back and I'm killed using a single disc to play cd,s(I'm using my Pioneer Elite dv47a dvd player).I plan on replacing it with the Sony ES 555es 400 disc cd player........but I have been waiting for Sony to release a SACD megachanger.....if they are going 2.The waiting game is where my limbo problems fall......I wanna move but new is right around the corner.........we shall see.
Pioneer Elite,Integra,Marantz and Now Denon all make combo units....all single disc.Maybe you need to join the waiting party.Dan

Thanks for the words. Please let this mail serve as my offficial request to be added to the list. Manufacturers, are you listening?
Cheers,

Pioneer makes one, the DV-AX10 single disc. It's $6000.00
The problem with all in one and mega changers is that something gets compromised, like the sound quality!!! And after all, isn't that what counts.Political Correctness'.........defined

Agreed, sound quality is what counts but to what degree? Life is full of compromises and HT is no exception. I along with others am looking for something between WalMart and $6000 players. How many Ferraries do you own?....get my point?
Cheers,

Denon 2900 - available now for MSRP $1000, selling for $900 most dealers. Single disc, though, sorry.
Progressive scan, Silicon Images decoding engine, upgraded MPEG decoder with no chroma bug, DVD-A and SACD with full digital bass bass management, and very high grade Burr Brown DACs. The PQ and sound quality will be uncompromised, and this is the player worth buying in the $1000 class, IF it is reliable.
I'll be picking mine up soon with a lifetime parts/labor warranty for $45 added cost - cheap insurance IMO. The local dealer has been in town since I was a kid and has three stores so I hope they stick around.
