Yeah, that's the really effed up part... i paid out almost $2000 more when all was said and done.
I'll just chalk it up to the government finding another way to sodomize my **** and move on.
It's getting really old seeing less than half of your gross amount on your checks make it into the bank account, and then watching your refund amount go down on top of that.
I wonder if for 2010 taxes i can claim my girlfriend, since i provide her health insurance. Gotta be something for that, right?I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I'm still waiting on a return that I filed for in April of last year. There were some discrepancies in paperwork from my employer. Fortunately, things were just ironed out last week, and I should be receiving a return soon, along with my 09' return."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. The IRS are the last people you want to play with.

I didn't mean claim as a dependent, i'm not quite ballsy or stupid enough to try that. But starting with 2010, i'm paying taxes on my employer's health insurance contributions, and starting 2010, it's now for two people, so i'm paying taxes on an extra $600 or so worth every paycheck.
Without giving more info than i really care to throw out on a public forum, let's put this into perspective:
So far, in the first two checks of the year, i've:
Grossed about $3800 (including the med credits, that i get taxed on apparently), and $2100 of that has somehow disappeared before it made it into my bank account. Based on these numbers and current overtime situation (only one of the two checks so far had overtime on it, and that will continued indefinitely), i'm going to end up grossing somewhere in the neighborhood of $55-$60k, and i'll see maybe $25k of it. Amusingly (not really) this is about what i SAW last year, grossing almost $20k less.
This is a direct result of two things: The taxation on the med credits for two people, which then get deducted anyways, and the overtime.
I guess i'll have to talk with HR here and see if there's anything that can be done about it from a tax perspective, because this is unreal.
I guess maybe i should not worry about it until the time comes, not like it's really going to change what i do the rest of this year anyways.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

FYI, the discrepancy would have been picked up by a competent CPA. If I didn't go to H&R block the first time around, I probably would have had my return in a timely manner."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
