Thanks..........glad you liked it, my main rig is very satisfying at this point until I make the next jump, with perhaps a different pre-amp. I was looking at the ModWright in the FM, it's very tempting at that price.

Hope you're enjoying the GFP-750; am I going to get it back eventually or will I have to send some "friends" over to extract it? :D:p

I had the car warming up and ready to head to Ohio for an intervention.
Did you bypass the polys? They can get nasty and degrade the sound.

thats an old pic and the interconnect cable and new speaker cables aren't in it. I don't think I've ever tried them without the ic cable. anyhow lots of good advice here and I appreciate it. guess I'll hang on to em and try some tweaking - spikes and tl mod and see what happens. thanks fellas

    Upgrades! When will it end?

    Never

no I didn't Russ, but interestingly enough they stopped cutting out when I switched to the mit speaker cables - which are sounding better everyday.

Just busting your balls...........demo it as long as you want. I'm not using it at the moment:)

Glad to hear you're going to try the tweaks. I once considered replacing my 2B's. I hung on to them because I loved the imaging but I was disappointed in many other aspects. Then I found Club Polk. I did the TL mod, Sonicaps, Erse SuperQ SDA Inductors, etc. My system is extremely modest compared to many here: NAD Integrated amp with Yaqin Tube Buffer, modified Yamaha CD player, Blue Jeans Cables. They're about 8 feet apart and I sit about 8 feet back. I'm still blown away everytime I listen. SDA's are finicky but worth the trouble in spades when you get it right!

Hey SJ, I like the uncluttered look too. I had it 10 yrs. ago.:o and am tring to get back there. Anybody have Clean House's number?

I feel you should sell those and supersize to a SRS model (maybe with a 15" passive0 that has ALOT more sound coming from them. Or like some one else said the SDA 1C's or SDA2Bs which have more mid woofers in them. They have ALOT of beautiful sound that comes from them and only lacks the very bottom register. They are amazing!

I'm sure those SDA's you have are nice but I feel you just want MORE of it. Nothing wrong with that.:D
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

thanks for the compliments on my setup fellas, modest but clean :) yes I'll be keeping the 2bs and do the mods, but if I see a pair of 1cs or srs come my way I might not be able to pass them up. probably gonna try a different amp/pre combo instead of a receiver this summer as well. been looking at some of carvers offerings. I'm getting to the point where I want to hear what different gear sounds like in my room

The mods are profound but as several have mentioned, SDA's may or may not be your bag. Any CP members close to you with SDA's? I'm a long way from Ohio, but you're welcome to stop by and listen to my 2B-TL's if you're ever in Wyoming.

I have never knowingly heard a pair of SDA's but i'm pretty damn sure they would sound way better than a9's in 2ch! I really don't like my a9's for 2ch (i like it really loud) and almost picked up a pair of thiel cs 3.5's last week to make due :o
