I have the CS1000P and upgraded from the CS400. It is a huge speaker and weighs a ton. You have to be able to properly support the speaker. It's not a matter of whether it is overkill for your room since I wouldn't describe the additional capabilities of the speaker as adding too much additional DB's. Rather, the built-in sub fills in the bass that's missing in the CS400. It is VERY noticeable on male vocals. IMO, it is absolutely worth grabbing one if you have the placement ability.
