I just had the opportunity to upgrade my system. I purchased one pair of RT 2000i, and one pair of FX 1000 for $650.....all speakers work and are in mint condotion.....is $650 a fair price???

I upgraded from two RT 1000p and two FX 30i.......

I already have a CS 400 as my center and I also have a huge powerful klipsh sub woofer...I am definitely hearing more depth in the mids and bass !!!!

If you are happy with what you bought and how the transaction worked out? If so, then you got a good deal. Did you get the best possible deal? Those can be hard to come by. Move on and enjoy your new gear and don't worry about what you paid for it.
    Good luck, Phil

I think we're just afraid to step on your toes and tell you that it wasn't a great deal. Not awful, but as Dave said, more than i would have paid.

What matters though is... Are you happy with your new speakers? If you are, then don't listen to us. :D

If you figure F/X 1000's in mint condition are around 275 to 300.00 and you throw in the RT2000i's for another 350.00 in mint condition not a bad deal. Many reviews of the RT2000i's say it is lacking in the mid range. What do you think? I have RT800i's that I stacked with RT55's and they were killer front mains when I stacked them for a home theater. I like the RT series for HT. If your happy then you got a good deal.

I don't find anything lacking in the mid range. the room is not the largest and I kind of feel there is more mid range now, and of course tighter bass than I had before.....But man are those FX1000's large mounted on the wall !!!!

The fx1000 is a heck of a surround speaker. Just look what it would cost you to find a replacement for them now. Plus you got some interesting front towers to play with. I am horrible to myself for buyers / non-buyers regret. I have $850 tied up in an average looking set of the RT5000p system. But todays consumer doesn't bring enough demand for suppliers to market something similar...the guy I purchased from was "upgrading to Bose cubes".

I second the enjoy the sound and it you change your mind you won't lose too much coin if you sell.

The guy I bought it from had a total set including a PSW450 sub and a CS400 center.

I already the CS 400 and I have a new model Klipsch sub that is probably just as good as the PSW450 he is selling. He currently has the CS 400 listed for $100 and the PSW450 for $250 on CL....The cs 400 is a steal...I may buy it just to have it as a spare as i still have my RT1000 and FX30i....

Don't take the silence too personally. I've seen the same silence on posts regarding speakers in this series. I'm not sure why as they are awesome HT speakers but I have a feeling now that I own a pair of SDA's and can hear the DRAMATIC differences in 2 channel sound reproduction over the same music played on my RT3000's that the SDA's are simply, hands down, a far superior speaker. That may explain the lower levels of enthusiasm for the RT's from some.

That said, the 2000's are a HUGE improvement over the 1000's. About 5 months ago, I had RT800's, 1000's, 2000's and 3000's in the same house. It's amazing the differences between them. I would rate them as follows:

Best overall without saying are the 3000's. Next best in the mid/upper range were the 800's but they lacked the bass of the 2000's. The RT2000's are overall a great speaker but do lack a bit of midrange when compared to RT's with dual 6.5 drivers. I would say that the 1000's were my least favorite overall.

I think what you paid, while not a steal, is reasonable. I sold a pair of 2000's and a CS400 with cosmetic damage for $375 and paid $450 for a pair of MINT FX1000's all within the last year. The FX1000's are an amazing surround speaker and hold their value well. I would not have settled for anything less than FX1000's to complete my 7.1 setup. You were fortunate to find a good pair of them.

    Enjoy the speakers!

That's a good summary of the RT series. I heard the 2000's were lacking in mid range and that people preferred the 800 series in that area. When you team the 800's with a sub they sound great. I hope to stumble on some 3000's someday. They seem like a sweet speaker.

no need to ease the mind, they are great !!!! i didn't think the would put my rt1000p and FX30i to shame but they do, wish the deal came along earlier...now i have the craving to upgrade my cs400 to a cs1000p !!!!

the back walls never showed any real mid or low bass with the FX30i but the FX 1000 is thatre like, and the RT 2000i gave much more mid bass and of course much more low bass as well..

I hear that C1000P is one HUGE center channel. Ask Nooshinjohn, he had one but thought it was too big for his room so...Maybe big might not be better here unless your room is huge too. That CS400 still comands respect in all catagories. Alot of people love that CS400 model and don't need any more. It's almost a perfect center from what I've heard and read.;)

Maybe a little on the high side...but that's not the important thing. You said they're in mint condition, which is a huge plus. It sounds like you're very happy with them performance wise as well.
