How long have you been building this effin house? I have been hearing about it for the past year or so I guess. I mean my god, how long does it take to build a house, how big is it? We built 7 houses in 2 months last year, is your house an effin mansion? lol! Anyway.....lol, good luck on the upgrade......and many more upgrades to follow.......and follow after that...and so on

Hey Dan. I know what you are talking about. I built a house a couple of years ago. Talk about stressful! Man, I know from this forum that you are one picky dude (like me) and man everyday I would go by the house it seemed like they effed something up. Subcontractors that the builders hire sometimes just don't have the high standards that we possess. The subcontractor laid out the entire house (except bedrooms) with ceramic tiles and a week later I discovered that the tile was a bad batch and they had to mini-jackhammer all the tile out and do it all over! In the long run, everything was cool after I gave the builder my final "punchlist". What adds to the stress I'm sure is compromising with the wife about what color is this room or carpet going to be, etc. etc.

The great thing is that you are going to be getting some great interest rates on a mortgage (unless you are buying cash). Heck, I already refinanced once and am considering doing it again...all in two years. Talk about insanity!

It's all good in the long run and well worth the wait. I'm sure you've got one killer home theater plan laid out which will make you smile from ear to ear.

Down here it takes at least three to four months to build a quality house and that's with good weather.

    Congrats on the new house.

    PJ.

    pjdami,
I put the down payment on my house back in March of 2001.The house was suppost to be finished by Dec 2001.
They didn't start building it untill May of 2002.Now it's May2 and it's not done. It's a normal size family house Rancher style with a 9 foot basement.I upgraded from 8 due to the theater.
I'm completely at my end with this whole build.I will never go new again unless it's under construction when I put my down payment.
This is a block they are building.17 houses going up.Right now mine is one of 7 that are up and almost complete.I 2 drive by all the time. It's on the wayto the gym,so I drive by and see how things are going. It's been 99% finsihed for months now and I don't understands whats the hold up.All sssmall stupid things need to be finished and where in.If they put a damn crew in there instead of a couple guys, they could finish it by next week. But no...........
Thanks man I'm really killed on this whole house thing.2 years and 2 months has taking me almost completly out.I'm a patient man to a point, this ruined my patience all together.
