Towers All Around?

I recently purchased a pair of Monitor 60 refurbs from the Polk Direct Store on Ebay. They sound great and you couldn't tell that they are refurbs, not a scratch. Got the pair of Cherry for $175.
I'm thinking of using the 60's as my side speakers in a 5.1 and putting Monitor 70's up front with my 55" Sony HD. The room is about 15 X 25 and open ended on one end. I've got plenty of power with my Yammy AV Receiver. Is this overkill? Should I maybe just add some Monitor 40s for the sides?
Thanks.

If you have the speakers already and the room, why not? The 40's would probably serve you just fine if you don't mind stands or using a bracket and wall mounting them. You know you'll have plenty of range with either selection. From everything I've read on here, surrounds aren't as important as the main 3 speakers in the front soundstage.

I've heard a few say that as well. But idealy you would want all matching speakers. I am using some old towers as my surrounds in a 5.1 and like it. But again, I already had them and didnt have to buy anything.

Agreed. Staying within the same series is ideal. TSi's all around for me!

I'm going to set my sights on a pair of cherry Monitor 70's. Next will be the SW.
    Again, thanks for the info.

I use rtia9's for the front and rti150's which are like the rtia9's but a few versions back. I love towers all the way around. There all set to large also. Except my center set to small. I find with large the explosions and sound effects sound more realistic. My problem is Im one of the few people that can localize bass, no matter where i set a sub I can tell where it is. So I really dont use my little sub in my sig. It was free so I hooked it up.

Would love to find some nice LS90's to run as side surrounds and move my LS50's to the back channels. The room may look like Hell, but it sounds good, lol.
