Tornado Warning here in HB, CA

I live in West L.A., just south of Santa Monica and north of Culver City. I went out tonight about 10pm and there were those palm tree branches (I'm not sure what to call them, not really branches but the kind that peel right off the tree) littered all over the street. It reminded me of a very mild tropical storm that would come through Taiwan when I lived there. Gusts of winds followed by torriential downpours for 5 minutes then nothing and then it would kick in again, with this kind of stillness in the air. Very different feel from that steady rainfall which we rarely get here.
Even the 11 o'clock news weather reports reminded me of the televeions coverage of typhoons in Taiwan: cars overturned or crushed by tree branches, major flooding in the mountains and evacuations but some clinging to their property or house come hell or high water.
definately feels out the ordinary here...2 Ch.

It's rained for 3 days straight here in Phoenix. Totally unreal for this area. Oh, and we had a tornado warning this evening. Still under a tornado watch. We're talking the f'ing desert here......
California is partly desert as well, that's why this came very unexpected for us as well.
Good news though, we survived with no damage, no leaks, and that last of the storms is clearing out today, by tonight we should have mostly clear skies.If...
