What does everyone think of the Emotiva line ? Seems hard to find an EMOTIVA XPA 2 but what about the Emotiva XPA 3 ? Are the specs ok and would that help my A9 fronts ???

Thank you,

Right now it is a large, Proficient Audio and I don't think it is rated very high. I plan to upgrade to a CSI A4 or A6.

As if we didn't have enough emo threads. The search function is your friend and specs mean nothing.

Say I bought a Emotiva XPA 5 (5 channel amp), simply for my front RTI A9's and center speaker. Could you, or "Would" you bi wire the A9's like I am doing presently off of my Yamaha RX-V1900 ? If I get an XPA 5, should I bridge the speaker posts, or bi-wire them and run one channel to each of the speaker's posts (using four of the five amp outputs). Thanks again, you guys are a real help,

Good "bang for buck" product's, work extremely well with Polk's.

My a9's sounded good running off my AVR (same as your's), sounded better when i added an xpa5, and sound even much better since adding a pair of xpa1's! :D

a6 for center duty is the way to go IMHO, match's beautifully with the a9's.

xpa5 for the front soundstage would be interesting. Use 4ch's for the a9's and the final ch for the a6 :) I would say that it would sound good, most likely better than the xpa3 alone.

If you want the best solution for 2ch then the xpa1's are the way to go. ;)

Glad i picked mine up :D

If you want to maximize a rig's potential for music/HT then go with a multi channel amp, xpa5 for the front 3 as i mentioned in my earlier post should be more than adequate. IIRC the xpa5 has more capacity and a larger transformer as compared to the xpa3....

Didn't try it as it didn't interest me because i knew i was getting mono block's :o

The xpa5 would be better than the xpa3 IMHO, but best for 2ch is xpa1's or xpa2 it's the way to go

I had my LSi-15's and the XPA-5 wired in a Bi-amp (seperate channel for each set of binding posts) configuration, There was only a very slight difference in the low end, I don't think it's worth the extra wire.

To the O/P you should not base opinion's solely on paper spec's of ANY product, regardless of the manufacturer  IMHO Emotiva provide's an option to many people who want better performance than integrated component's offer without "breaking the bank" and also give's many the piece of mind you get with NEW component's as opposed to the uncertainty of used item's. They definately are NOT the be all, end all but definately a quality product for the price :)

The O/P's question's are valid, there is NO need to "police" the forum and discourage new member's from posting :)

I will agree with you that yes one can obtain much information from doing a search but if everyone only used the search we would have no "traffic" on the forum and it would stagnate.

If you feel the need to "police" maybe you can get a grip on all of the spam post's and all of the ignorant flaming and useless post's that go on here by a few member's simply for the sake of upping their post count ;)

    Really ? Google ?

If that were true, then why are you here ? I mean, if Google can answer all your questions, all these audio clubs should just go away then.

The poster you question is well respected around these parts. He, myself, and others may get testy from time to time at the lack of newbs to learn how to use a forum, ask a question, or use manners. You may have a personal issue with Heiney, none of my buisness, and even though this is an internet forum, a tad bit of respect goes along way.

This is the age-old thing with internet forums...happens on every one I've been on. Long standing members who get tired of seeing the same stuff repeated versus noobs looking for info.

Why not let these guys have their thread? Easy enough to skip over it if you've BTDT.

Not exactly, more like noobs being too lazy to search and have everyone else do their leg work for them. They can have their threads, nobody says otherwise, just when it gets repeated over and over, they will be called on it to search for the answer as it has been talked about a million times over. Much like cable debates.

In the time it took you to log on, reply to this post 2 times, change your font size and color, you could have just put links to the answer using the search function.

Not trying to jack the thread, sorry about this. I agree with trying to use the search function but compared to other forums this one seems really picky. On another note it is also nice to have information brought up again every once in a while, if you don't want to post about it then you don't have to, just skip over it.

Are there a lot of Emo threads here? Yes. Could someone use the search function? Yes. Perhaps folks asking these redundant questions are just wanting to chat audio? If everybody used the search, where would all these "spirited" discussions happen?

I think if a guy who is obviously new here posts a repeated question he's looking for info and way to stimulate some discussion and really doesn't deserve to be blasted right off the bat.
