Perhaps you used the wrong word, but you called many in middle America dullards. A dullard is a stupid person. Applied in the context of this discussion, Conan's brand of humor is a little above our level of thinking. If that's not what you meant, OK, but that is what you said.

I did use the wrong word, I didn't mean dumb so much as ... conservative. Not politically but just socially. No one could ever say Conan was highbrow or smart, he had a masturbating bear as a character on his show. But most of what is deemed "middle America" would find that purely distasteful instead of "Funny because it's distasteful."

Really middle America is a stupid term too but it's just the most common term used. It's people all over the country, it's not a red state blue state thing.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think Conan would ever be able to hack it in his current time slot and you think he just needed more time. Right?

Pretty much. It's obviously down to taste, the real reason I'm behind Conan is :
    a) he should have been given more time
    b) NBC's decision to throw Leno, a known entity, on at 10PM after giving Conan the Tonight Show seriously undermined Conan and contributed to his ratings.
    c) Leno's behavior in this has just been so dishonest.

And sure, you could see Conan's reaction as him being a big baby, but at least he's playing it for laughs. The past week has been some of the best stuff he's ever done.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

In case you didn't watch last night, Jay took credit for the recent spike in Conan's ratings. :D

I think Leno should move to Fox. Out of all the late night talk show hosts, he seems like the only one to be, relatively neutral.

I like Conan better myself, But really who cares their all on crack, and what a better way to get the ratings up but to stir up some drama.

Carson will always be the KING of late night, all others will be kissing his dead ****.

I have no idea why I'm even posting in this thread (or read it for that matter)....bored maybe?

I've never watched a single minute of Leno's new show, Conan's Tonight Show, or whatever show it is that no talent Kimmel has. I didn't watch any of the shows any of them had before nor do I watch Letterman. I don't think they are particularly funny and I could care less about the great insight that their "celebrity" guests impart. I'm definitely a late night person and rarely go to bed before 2:00 AM...but I have absolutely NO INTEREST in any of the so called late night talk shows.

In other words I don't care.

It's always good when you can judge someone to be a no-talent hack in the same sentence as admitting that you have never once watched them.

I have read online that FOX likes Conan alot. If I were Conan, I would jump to FOX, get the big paycheck, tell them I want to be at the same time as Leno and then take all of the viewers from NBC. Leno had his time and just needs to let it go.

If you are referring to me, I said I had never watched "his show". Unfortunately, I've seen Kimmel enough to fully comprehend that he is a no talent "hack" (your term...not mine).

I think you're misreading Ebersol's comments. When I read "appeal to a broader audience," I don't think middle America. I think age demographics. Theres no doubt Conan appeals to a younger demographic.

Neither Leno or Conan have been edgy...they can't be. It's network TV. The edgy stuff is on dish or cable if it's anywhere.

Sure, and boil that down further it's about money. NBC created a mess and neither guy could deliver in their new timeslot. NBC tried to undo the mess and Conan doesn't like it.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think Conan would ever be able to hack it in his current time slot and you think he just needed more time. Right?

how can you have an opinion when you said above that you didn't watch both?

and if you didn't watch both, why are you getting all turned on by Conan when the only thing that he ever did was sending out the '**** u-NBC' letter?

I don't think you are qualified to make an opinion here. You are obviously biased and probably jsut hate Conan for his appearance, or his hair.

Interesting that you seem to be blaming NBC (and Leno) for this when it's Conan who didn't bring in the ratings to keep him and all of those poor people who were uprooted employed.

Seems to me they ought to have worked a little harder if they wanted this to work out. It was Conan's hour, nobody else.

Have you seen Jay leno's show? It's the mosxt boring talk show I have ever watched. How could Conan pull in viewers after following a show like that. Jay always had one of NBC's best shows leading in for him, and Conan got stuck with another talk show, and a very bad one at that.

This entire thing is NBC's fault and Conan is going to be their excuse for that. They'll say he can't get the ratings, but in reallity he never had a chance. No one wants to watch a talk show at 10 pm, so everyone has already switched to another station before Conan ever comes on. The only reason people watch talk shows is because they are in bed watching their last show of the night, then the news comes on, they're still awake so they watch some of whats on after the news.

Personally I watch letterman if I'm actually laying in bed and flipping through the channels and see him. The only reasons for that are that I like his weird sense of humor, and he seems to have better musical guests when he has them. As far as Jay leno goes, he has got to be the most bland person on tv, at least Conan has some energy and seems to be enjoying himself. Jay asks the exact same questions to every guest he has. They say Jay you to do some great standup, but I really can't see how he's still on TV. The only late night host I think is more boring is Fallon.

I hope they cancel both shows, and show more reruns of the office. The tonight has sucked since Johnny carson left. I do though laugh sometimes while Conan is on, and I can't make it more then 10 minutes watching Leno.

I have watched them all before. They all suck so I don't watch them anymore. Do you watch shows you don't like? If Conan or Leno were any good I would watch both shows at every opportunity.

Now now, you've resorted to cussing again for lack of a proper comeback lol

what I said in my post came straightly from your mouth (previous posts);)

you should read the other posters and see how reasonable you are. I only see you having a dig at Conan when he is truly the victim in this case. Again, it's only my guess but I think you have a bias toward the man without any basis.

read bevo's post for the reason why Conan is not bringing in as much revenue as he wanted to. On top of that he has not had enough time to prove himself and everyone knows that.

On the contrary, Jay Leno's show has been nothing short of a disaster. He was alright before, but now he seems tired and exhausted on the TV. How would Conan's show even benefit anything from this?

Maybe you should think a little bit, watch the shows a little bit, and educate yourself a little bit, before you speak.

How can a multi-millionare be a victim . . . did they mug him and take all his money? I have no dog in this fight as I don't watch those types of shows but from where I sit they pay Conan a lot of money to do a job which apparently he hasn't done very well.
