Volent Monitors ????????????
These are located about 20 miles from me in Far Hills, New Jersey. I spoke to Brent and am going to give them a listen next week. He also has a few other pairs of monitors for me to hear as well, no surprise there. I've been looking for something local and this is one that I found that interests me.
Has anyone ever listened to a pair of Volent's or heard of Volent? German manufacture I do believe so that can't be bad.
They cost more than what I was willing to pay but since I am all screwed up in this damn hobby I don't know what the hell I am doing :D:D
What I really really need is a psychiatrist.

I thought they were from Hong Kong... I've seen them before, but never heard 'em. It's hard to forget the way that ribbon tweeter is set up.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Drew why don't you take a ride to Bensalem PA and check out what Stephen has on hand? He's got a whole room full of various name monitors and he's very pickey about what he sells.

IIRC, their big brothers use the same mid woofer as the magico mini. Can;t tell what kinda woofer is on that one. Dynaudio? Scanspeak?Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Is that a horn loaded ribbon? Awesome!

Hmmm ... In the first picture, I also spy a Mark & Daniel Maximus-Monitor. Maybe if you get over there to listen to the Volent, give that one a listen too. The speaker in the picture has their Omni-Harmonizer perched on top also.
I have the Maximus-Mini, in shocking orange. It's an interesting product, for sure, but I would suppose the small size of the Mini forced some compromises (the crossover is much higher than the rest of the range, for starters). I love the detailed highs, and the excellent mid-range IMO, and it certainly does perform better than its size might suggest, so it would be interesting to hear a smart listener's opinion of the big boys from this range. I'm kind of wondering where I'm going to go from here. I did consider a full 5.1 system with Maximus-Minis for a while, but that's not really the direction I'm going in any more. There were some great reviews for all of these, but after the Emotiva debacle, who cares about reviews any more?! Here's a pile of linkies to keep you busy:

In any case, the Volent does look gorgeous IMO, and the AudiogoN pricing seems spot on for 9/10 condtion, bit looks are the cherry on the cake, not the cake itself. If you get a listen to them before buying, that's a different story. BTW, did you ever get a listen to the Focal speakers that treitz was recommending?
Good luck with the continuing quest!Alea jacta est! -

I think you are correct.hearingimpared wrote: »Drew why don't you take a ride to Bensalem PA and check out what Stephen has on hand? He's got a whole room full of various name monitors and he's very pickey about what he sells.

Joe, I may do that sometime. They are about an hour and a half from me which is not too bad. I did speak with Stephen a couple months ago when I was looking for the "right" Musical Fidelity CDP and he is a great guy. The reason I am giving these a look/listen is that they are close and cool! Maybe I can work some kind of deal. maybe not but should be interesting.SolidSqual wrote: »Is that a horn loaded ribbon? Awesome!
I guess

Thanks Kex
I have not heard any monitors yet. Again. the real reason I am looking at these is because they are close and cool. Hopefully they will sound awsome and I can work some kind of deal. I will have plenty of cash in my pocket. I love CASH like most people/businesses.

I'll second that road trip, a great way to get your ears on some fine world class monitors. Out of all the monitors he carries...and he carries a lot, the AAD 2001 monitors are still the reference that all the rest aspire to match. He'll tell you that flat out himself.

I'm going to be in Hong Kong in a month...any of you guys have an address for Volent dealers....I'd be curious in hearing one even though that looks like a very funky design.
There are a number of Asian speaker makers over here..most of whom I haven't the faintest ideal about BTNT is one, and CV another for example....most are Hong Kong or Canton based??
