This is sort of an introspective thing and amongst a bunch of testosterone types I don't know that I expect much of a reply, but here goes...

What song(s) really move you or really describe how you feel at a certain time. By that I mean when you listen, it transports you and you think it could be written about you and for you?

I ask this as I'm staring down 100 days away with no end in sight....I was listening to Collective Soul this evening and 'Run' came up and I bet I've heard that song a thousand times but tonight it was like, yeah, that's how I feel.....I bet I replayed it 20 times....

Okay, I'm NOT ****, really, I'm not! :D

    Troy,
don't be shocked but I will reply to your thead......sorry to hear that there is no end in sight. That got to be extremely hard and I don't know If I could handle that.......I got alot of respect for yeah there man,not many other places but there nonetheless.Waaaa.

    back on topic,
music is funny isn't it?It helps out all emotions.Joy,anger, sorrow, focus, you name it.To narrow it down to a few songs would be extremely hard.I can however mention a couple that fill certain moods for me.

1)Lorenna Mckennitt.I enjoy listenign to any one of here cd's to wind down from a long day.Glass of wine and the mood is set.Song title would be"Dantes Prayer" off "the book of secrets"cd.Another one that really gets me is"Prospero's speech" of of "The mask and Mirror" cd.She is simply remarkable.Sometimes when I listen to her,it seesm like she is singing to me/for me.
2)I meditate alot so I listen to Chan Chi Gong Master Li and Mr.Cheng Da-Wei.
3)AL Di Meola.......pick one.I loce them all.To nalme one would be"Mercey Street"off of "Winter Nights" cd.

You know after thinking about it for awhile,U2 comes to mind."with or without you".That song had alot of meaning for me along time ago.I was dating this girl and well.......it's like that.
To go back in time for a minute,Dokken wrote alot of songs in the 80's I really related to.Alone again without you......it was a very trying time with women for me then.I had girl problems.I was young and I can now say stupid.Touching time for me.

Today is a different note......I'm very happy with the woman I have now,I have 2 beautiful children.Songs like "The Power Rangers" are big as my sons loves to watch them.Star Wars is also big,it always puts a smile on our faces.

Well I could really take this far,but I'll leave it there for now.
Not to sound cheesy but "stairway To heaven"has a special place in my heart.Another girl I date used to love the flute track in that song and she said she loved thinking about me when she heard the soothing sounds of the flute.I am a guitar player(and lot of others)and I used to play Stairway for her and we would sing it together.........nice time in my life.......

God dude.....this is a good topic.**** I could just keep typing.
Now to end this I will say this........Music is a very big part of my life.It always has been.Always will be.

    Just about anything by Tool
Dave Matthews Band - The Dreaming Tree
    Dave Matthews Band - Spoon
Inlakesh - Navigator (Dan, check this group out for meditating)
    Anything by Portishead
Givinda - Nomads (another one for Dan, from the album "O earthly Gods")
    Jamiroquai - Little L
Lamb - Cotton Wool (or anything from the first album)
Pantera - The entire vulgar display of power album (this is what I listen to when I want to get out some anger/hate, or if I'm on a long 1+ hour drive)
Robert Plant - Ship of Fools

I could go on and on. Music is a huge part of my life and always has been since I got my first handheld radio at 6 years old.

I don't think anyone song sticks out for me. But there are certain artists that move me.

The first is Sade. Man her voice is amazing. And Lovers Rock just plain rocks. That album has amazing acoustic guitars in it. I have played that CD over and over.

I also love Coldplay. Very good piano and melodies on both albums.

First thought is gotta go classical here... Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto gets me every time.

But after further review, I'll add Joni Mitchell's "Blue" either just the title track or the whole album.... it's all good.
    More later,

TroyD, it's amazing how some songs just hit you in the gut and those emotions just come out.. it's really bad when you're in the car driving somewhere and a certain song will come on and it brings you to tears.. for no reason at all. It has happen to me so many times. ;)

Songs that do it for me and brings me back down to earth and reality are.

Oleta Adams - Get There (written by Brenda Russell) Wow. actually her whole CD is great.. it's called Circle of One. check it out.

Patti LaBelle - If You Asked Me To. wow Ms Patti has such a powerful voice. She could make a childrens song sound fantastic.

Roberta Flack - The Closer I Get To You. One of the best duets i've ever heard.

Annie Lennox - Why? and Walking On Broken Glass. I was in the hospital for a whole month.. and her DIVA cd got me though a rough time in my life.

Well that's it. it's great to rediscover music that has meaning to your life in one way or another.

What a coincident, yesterday I was about to respond to this post with this song. I was listening to Fourplay - Elixir album, and it had this song (Flack and Peabo Bryson) very powerful...funny you mentioned this song...
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I guess so...btw, that is also a great album Fourplay-Elixir, in case you are looking for for ideas. I was actually surprised that song stuck in the middle of the album, I had to get up and get the liner notes.
