RMDS1--no sound from left speakers (front and reat)

This system has worked fine for several years, since I bought it new. The power button on the remote no longer seems to turn the system on or off, but everything has worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. At that time I noticed that the left front and rear speakers were no longer working. I've disconnected and reconnected the wires from the woofer and from the speakers, but this does not correct the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

    on the remote control there is a way to balance the sound left and right and front and back--maybe it inadvertently shifted---can rebalance on the receiver

    Thanks much for responding. I had tried that, and both front and back left speakers had no sound. For some unexplained reason, they just started working again. Apparently this is some kind of intermittent problem.
