    Troy and Russ,
you can use a hole saw kit to clean the crap out of your ears.Maybe use it to clean out your buttholes.

    Greg,
thanks..that's my next project, work on cleaning up the pics. You right, wire is such a pain. The fact that some manufacturers like to route the power cord from the left and some from the right, drives me crazy. Ideally, I like to put the in those cable tubes, so it looks cleaner.

Dan, the DSS box gets warm, and I have a fan inside to help cool things down a bit. But, you're right, ideally the DSS should have a bit more room to breathe...
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Such hostility Dan, for someone who is a master of the 'arts' I thought that sort of thing was beneath you.....

Silver, black, eh, if I like the gear, I could really care less about the color.

no hostility Troy.I thought that reply was kinda funny.I laughed at it after I posted it.

"MASTER" me??? No man I'm far from.I have studied for 9 years now.My teacher moved away before I reached my Black sash level.I train on my own now as I haven't found a good replacement Sifu. There is however My senior student who has been teaching for over 20 years. He is a master and well respected in the arts. His classes and my schedule don't meet eye to eye..damn shame 2 ,I would love to study under him.

I have no idea what you mean by that.If you are referring to my art, well it takes most people 10 years or more just to reach Black sash level.Master can take one an entire lifetime and may not reach that goal.
It's the journey that keeps me going, not mastering the art.

First of all, I don't wanna know ANYTHING about anyone's nads that have gone gray....... ;)
For instance, I have silver panels, or drawer covers on my other sources so it ties into the grouping well. If you have all black equipment and then a silver receiver, it may look a bit outta place.
:lol: Good line Brett. I would have gone more for a line like, “luckily his wife doesn’t place that much emphasis on looks either ;)”…. but I digress…

Silver doesn’t do it for me, though I too liked the old Carver look. What’s weird to me is that the lighter, silver faceplates seem show fingerprints more than the black . Not to embarrass, but look at the tray drawer in Brett’s pic.

I look forward to all the updates promised in this thread… plus my own. Right now I am still “under construction” that is being complicated by a contemplated move of the equipment room. More later…

I noticed things like this when people take pics of there gear.If your going to take a pic,at least give it a once over.Silver black red green it doesn't even matter what color your gear is,fingerprints and gear don't mix.
But again not to embarrass anyone......

True, but point was that fingerprints show up more on silver audio gear than they do black. See any on the black gear in his pic? I don't.

And what's curious to me is if I wanted a car color that was easy to care for, I'd take silver over black anytime.

Nope... Never have... never will. One of my hopefully few negative manufacturer biases that is really not based on anything concrete. Excepting car audio, I have never owned anything with the word Pioneer on it.... (actually I think there was some baking powder or flour at one time in the kitchen.)

But looks like you just gave me a reason... they must be fingerprint magnets. :)

Who's to be embarassed..........After I saw that pic, I actually had to look at my equipment again to see if there were any prints, and there aren't.....on any of it. I dunno if it's either some sort of striations from the molding process or the camera, but the pieces are actually fingerprintless........

want some real silver-faced fun? go to http://silverpioneer.com/ ....

Actually, wait until next month, then go there... they've exceeded their monthly quota. Damn free webhosts! Anyway, they've got some GREAT pictures of all the vintage Pioneer stuff, including the legendary SX-1980. Man, I wish I had one of those....

Until the site's back up, do an eBay search for "Pioneer SX*"

    One such fine SX-1980 specimen
