    Erik,

Although my MF SACD Kw sounds fantastic my experience with MF's now authorized repair shop has been less than stellar, very slow, mostly unresponsive, suspect repair and a one man show, MF is no Polk Audio when it come to CS, my unit was at their repair facilities for six months to get the transport upgraded, service repair can be done if companies care to, as an example another hi-end company I use BAT had my unit back to me in well under two weeks including ship times each way when I needed service.

I am pretty much getting a divorce from MF based upon lack of service, I do though maintain the rights to this SACD!!!!!!

That said I do hope CNN does give up on used gear based on this one bad experience, the only piece in my whole 2 channel I got new was the MF and its been out of the rack the most and dont even get me started on the MF Trivista player it replaced.

Yeah - the whole MF customer service being sourced out of 1 location does bother me and parts are an issue too if they won't be as available as before.

It's a tough call - cuz I really really like the sound I'm getting from the A5, and it has all the features I'm looking for.

One minute I'm thinking I could live w/o the phono input working cuz I got a decent little external preamp, but then the next minute it irks me that I got a bum unit and getting it serviced will be a PITA.

    grr.....:(

They have already, but usually sell in a couple hours or days.

I did see one...briefly...at a decent discounted price...but like you said...gone in literally seconds.

These are fairly new - wonder why the quick turn around from some buyers...

from what I can tell they sound different, however, seems to wear thin rather quickly.

Well - I thought about my problem with the A5 I got and decided to return it to the seller. I got a full refund so, I still have faith in audiogon transactions - it does pay to research who you are dealing with.

And, I decided to stay with the A5 and picked up another one off of audigon at a lower price to boot! :D Seller says all inputs work and the unit is flawless.

I know...roll the dice...but dang, the A5 is one fine sounding unit and the price was killer.

This goes away with a few hundred hours on the unit, I can no longer detect it in my ST-500 or STI-500.

Thanks for the update - sounds like your unit has settled in and you are enjoying the sonic goodness!

I got my replacement A5 - all inputs working perfectly. The A5 is an amazing integrated amp - and the HT bypass feature is way cool! :D

I'm still futzing with my external DAC and deciding whether to keep it for my Oppo-83 or keep my dedicated CDP....I thought for sure a $1K external DAC to my Oppo would crush my CDP....but....it ain't so clear cut...
