Ceiling speakers for surround back?
I am setting up a 7.1 system in our new house that is being built.
There is really no room for two center back speakers since there is a large window in the back of the room. So I am thinking of 2 rear ceiling speakers, perhaps speakercraft 8x series or some RC80i's overhead with the tweeters pointing to the rear of the room. I will have 2 fxi30's in the rear corners, a PSW450 sub and L/R/center's from a 7600 system.
I think the ceiling mounted might add nice effects to the surround effects.
I am attaching a photo of the model home we are getting. We'll probably move the couches up a few feet. I will have a new Mits 65". See the center column? I will find out next week (when the framing is done) if I can put a rear there. Maybe a rear satellite from a 7600 system? If I can, I want something small, but powerful. I am told I cannot go inwall on that one. I'll check. What about 1 ceiling speaker overhead AND that one in the back? I am thinking it would be better to have the two overheads, as sounds going from left to right might have a nice spatial effect.
I'll be driving a Denon 4802r for sound.

Are you getting the tile floor?????
anyways yes Inceiling's are great.Sound great and make sure you buy inceiling's with piviting tweeters.
I would install a pair of them 3 to 4 feet apart using the center of the room as a guide.Keep em close to the back wall as possible and slightly point the tweeters firing outwards and slightly backward.
That room would also benefit from inceiling rears as well on the sides of the sitting area.Same model inceiling I would use for 4 rears....or with the Denon wire for all 6.Denon has A?B rear channels and surroundback.Sweet.
You could have a nice theater in that room. With alittle attention to detail, you'll be on your way.Check out your other post I left something there for yeah to read........

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
So, are we talking:
2 corner surrounds (which are my 2 fxi30's)
2 rear center (rci80's?)
2 side's (rci80's?) (center of the room)
Along with my front two and Center (which are from a 7600)?
and my Denon will have both the A/B active?
If so, SWEET!
I like the in ceiling ones for the 2 sides and the 2 backs. I already have the fxi 30's. they are smaller and less obtrousive. (Wife acceptance factor....y'know). I don't think she cares at all about the in ceiling's because we can match the paint. She loves good sound like I do, but you know, I guess there HAS to be room for her to decorate.
Any other input would be much appreciated.
For ceilings, do you recommend polk? I like the aimable tweeter. I know speakercraft 8x series has that too. But more pricey.
Strange, I did not think of the side surrounds until you mentioned it. -
