Haven't worked with that unit so no tips here. But if you installed a Denon 3805 in your system whatever the Pioneer has for set-up menus should be a cake-walk for you...!

If your 50 inch LCD is HDMI then wire everything in HDMI that can be.
Use BD for Blu ray
HDMI 1 for cable or DSS/SAT
HDMI 2 for a standard DVD in HDMI
HDMI 3 for a game system
Whats nice about Pioneer ELite receivers is the fact the HDMI inputs do not use up the analog inputs like TV or DVD. They are still open for other sources to be connected. You don't have to assign the HDMI inputs to anything. They are there own inputs.
USe MCACC after you get all speakers and everything connected. Read the manual.Dan
