speaker jumpers

anyone got any suggestions for a set of pre-made speaker jumpers? I've been wanting to try something other than the stock jumper plates as I hear there is a noticable improvement. I've read a few DIY threads but I"m not all that handy, yet. trying to keep it on the cheap, was looking at these
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=speaker+jumpers&_sacat=See-All-Categories
I'm running an old set of mit T3s. Is there any material in the jumpers I should look for/avoid that might have an adverse effect with my speaker cables?

Just about any cable will be better than the jumper plates. However, IMO it's best to use jumper cable from the same manufacturer as your speaker cables.

That said, for $20.00 it's hard to go wrong.

If you try these please let me know how they sound(work). I have seen these people with a lot of stuff on ebay @ a good price. Just been leary due to the fact they are in Hong Kong. Bought some scan discs for my boat electronics from HK and it took 4ever for them to show up. I have Polk LSI running with Nordost blue heaven rev2 biwire and love them I just don't want to spend that kind of money on three more sets.

I ordered the mits from a place in HK, took about 3 weeks to get here. they were garenteed to be brand new, and I guess they could be but they look kinda old/faded. I posted a pic in a different thread and someone pointed out that series of mit cable was probably 10 years old so...

The T3's you have are indeed an old series and you will not find any jumpers listed on MIT's site. You have to call them to special order jumpers. Some jumpers made from the current AVT series should work well with your T3's.

I have an amp made by Emotiva, and it is a beast! I am pretty imressed by them and thought I might give their speaker cables a shot. They look very well made, and are made with 10 guage wire. Here is a link to their Speaker cables and more. I think i'll get the X-Series if I get them. If you get them let us know what you think. Thanks.

I have a question. all the time I read post about how much better sounding a polk speaker is if you replace the speaker jumpers plate with speaker wire. I just cant believe that it would be better. Can someone with experience in this please let me know whether it made a difference with the Polk Monitor 70 speakers. My theory is if it sounded better then Polk wouldnt use the jumper they would use wire right?
Please let me know if this is worth the effort. Thanks

Your theory would be incorrect. Polk has a price point to meet as do all other speaker companies. The plates are cheap and plentiful.

Upgrading the caps and resistors in your speakers will also result in improved sound. Of course, Polk could use the better parts, but you'd pay a lot more for the speakers.

superJ . . . There are lots of great jumpers out there. Before I biamp'd then biwired my 1.2TLs. I used 12g copper stranded wire as the jumpers and they worked just fine. Are there better options? I'm sure I just never tried them.

I'm sharing my experience here so I really can't comment on pre-manufactured jumpers and I'm not going to post links to pass off my inexperience as the be all end all.:D;)

What's to do? You cut a few inches of wire, strip the ends then wrap them around the post or try to get them through the holes and voila your done. Make sure you really tighten the nuts.

Thought I'd throw a little bit of inspiration your way.

I too wanted to replace my jumpers, but more importantly with something made by the same co. as my speaker cables. I'm running a pair of older MIT T5's and I really like them over my old Belden5000 I had. Having an extra speaker cable what'd I do?

You guessed it. I used these jumpers for my Magnepan speakers when I was running them with the maggie-mates high-pass modules but now I'm using them in place of my stock jumpers in my LSi's. I can't say I hear much of a difference but that's because my speakers are still breaking in but they did make a difference in the Magnepans so that was enough for me to use them. Only thing I've got going for me is extensive use with a soldering iron, other than that I'm not too much of a DIY'er and this is what I was able to make. Enjoy!

The speakers I'm using these with have 5-way binding posts. I use spade ends on my speaker wire so that leaves my posts free to hook up a pair with banana ends (same with the OP's speakers). I'll take a pic to show ya.

Good to know. Yet another tweak I was unaware of (still learning).

Like the OP, I also am not handy so just ordered a set of jumpers from Frank at Signal (to go with my Signal Ultra speaker cables).

Just like MIT cables and other directional cables, just point the direction in which signal is flowing.

IE Speaker cables, power is going from the amp torwards your speakers so point the arrow torwards your speakers. :)

ok so the speaker cable would be plugged into the binding post where the jumper cable arrows begin correct?
