I recently picked up a amp for my upcoming HT. My amp puts out 145wpc and I'm looking for a recommendation on speakers. I recently heard a pair of Definitive BP7706 http://www.definitivetech.com/Products/products.aspx?path=Floor-Standing%20Speakers&productid=BP7006

I liked them but can anyone recommend me a pair of Polk's that are similar?

Thanks,

With the built in subwoofers, I would say that the only thing that might be comparable would be the LSi15's or maybe the LSi25's? However, they are going to be a bit more expensive than the Def's. Maybe something along the lines of the RTiA9's or 7's? I'm sure someone will have better/more advice soon.

Do you have a separate preamp to go with your amp or a receiver? Please list your gear.

RTi A9's should fit the bill and can be had from Polk Direct for $899 plus shipping.

Eh... if he's got a $1500 budget, there's really no reason for him to settle with Monitors.

I second the lsi's the only thing with the 15's are the built in sub is not powered by its own power supply it relies on the power of your receiver. "as I know of" I would recommend the lsi 25's of the ML source.

Congrats. Just realize that as well as a receiver, you will need a separate amplifier with at least 200wpc to get the best out of them.

youre definitly set for speakers for a while, thats for sure. as long as your amp is 4 ohm stable, you're good to go. They will sound good now (give them time to break in though), and they will reward you down the road with any amplification upgrades you make down the road.

The only speakers I hear that I like as much or signiicantly better cost a **** ton more than the 15's, so I figure I'm gonna have them for a good long while.

    good luck with em

+1, if your AVR isn't rated for 4 ohms, you won't have those 15's for long, lol. Either that or your AVR will go into protect mode and you may damage it or the speakers. If you have pre-outs on your AVR, get some external amplification and you will be in business. For now, be careful with the volume knob!!

I'd love to audition the LSi series... but they don't have em at the local bestbuy/magnolia showroom. Are they leagues better than the RTiA series?

More different than anything.... RTiAs are forward, a little bright. LSis are more laid back, i would imagine better for music.

I see, the RT800s that I have are a bit neutral sounding, very comparable to my CSi5 center. If I could only sample the LSis... too bad you can't find a good deal on those. They never go on "sale" or "clearance".

LSI-15s...good choice, especially for music...but you won't be that impressed with their 'musical' sound unless you do what cfrizz advises above. Those speakers will not sound as good as they can without a lot of POWER!
