MicroPro1000 cone rattle

New MicroPro1000 rattles as though it's bottoming out on loud passages... rattle is definitely coming from the cone. At 1200 watts and with the limiting and protection circuitry it describes in the manual, I'm wondering if I have a defective unit... my older 400W 10" sub has no problems at same levels.... anything I might be missing?

This sub isn't meant to play loud if that is indeed what you're looking for. It's made to produce quick and accurate/punchy bass from a small enclosure and it does it well, especially for music.

If you're using it for HT or both HT/music in a medium/large sized room, move on to something bigger.

The MicroPro 1k is an awesome sub and I love it, but I specifically use it for music in a small room with bookshelf speaks.

PS You should try turning the crossover on either your receivers settings (if you're using the LFE input) or on your sub (if you're using line-in) down to around 80hz or so. Put it up too high and you'll experience what you're experiencing now (according to other members).

Another thing I forgot to mention, if you just bought this sub I highly recommend putting some playtime into it before trying to blast it. This goes for any pair of speakers/subwoofers you get brand new. They require a break-in time.

Try running it between 60-80 hz and see if it disappears.
